Yup, par for the course. Everything sucks. Why bother having a killer player on the field?

It's like being married a long time and having to temper your excitement for some hawt anniversary night sex. Yeah it sounds great, but you can't get excited about it because you know there's a 95% chance it'll never happen.

That's our relationship with Adams.

I get what you're saying. But when Pitt basically says "why bother?"
I can't get on board with ridiculous thinking like that. Why bother having a very good football player on the field? Really?
I don't expect him on the field a ton, but the fact that WHEN it happens again, people are going to run here to blast him, yet again. And, people seem to enjoy it...........really strange stuff. Enjoying talking sh** about a guy who just got hurt. Which in turn, makes the team not as good. To each his/her own I guess.

Idk what he meant, but I get it if he meant why bother getting excited.

It's great news, but I think we've learned the last two years that any excitement over Adam's returning has to be GREATLY tempered.

At least this year Pete and John have done a really good job of bolstering the safety and DB room with good players where we're not counting on Adams, anything he gives us is a bonus and not expected.

Well, why care if someone ELSE gets excited about something? I'm stoked he's coming back. Do I expect a bunch of games out of him? No.
That's all. I'm extremely cautiously optimistic. I'm fully aware of his injury history. I'm still fired up to see him back on the field.
I'm a hell of a lot more concerned with the painfully bad run defense than I am excited about Adams coming back.

Like something extra, something unexpected, in that anniversary sex that you mentioned?

I'm of the opinion that we're a better defense without him. He's a one trick pony, a liability in pass coverage and too small to consistently play at the LOS.

Just because he was hurt last year does not mean he is going to be hurt this year.

Any of this he is always hurt do he will be hurt again this year lacks fact and is made by people who have zero access to Adams and very limited medical expertise. That is reality

This is going to be a vey fun, attacking style defense to watch, with Adams in there, very very fun, very very attacking.

Until it gives up a bunch of chunk plays and Pete tells Clint to run the prevent defense. Then we are back to 20 play 5 min drives.

Like my grandma used to say, anniversary sex is like an egg salad sandwich, you don't get it very often but when you do it's delightful.
Um....yuk considering the source. I know how we all got here, but I don't want to have an image of my grandparents playing hide the salami. It's bad enough that I heard my parents going at it.....once!

On topic, Adams will need to be eased in anyway. After a year off he's going to be "rusty" and we have the luxurey of a solid DB room. I'd expect Adams to get meaningful playing time mid-season, week 5-6, going full time around week 8+.

It will be great to have Adams back on the field. My optimism is tempered by the fact that quadricep tendon rupture is an extremely difficult injury to come back from. The success rate among NFL players after surgery is only 50%. That's the percentage of players who are able to play again.

I've posted this article before:

Of the players who did make it back, the average number of games that a player played in following this injury is 41, which is encouraging.

I think most of our expectations (including Adam's own coaches) are so low that after all his injuries? As long as he can play 10-15 snaps a game and remain upright for more than half a season is about as good as it's gonna get.

If he can come in on 3rd down and be disruptive? That'd be awesome.

But if I had to put money on what we're going to see? Probably going to see a lot of Adam's hobbling around trying to hit people. I mean, it's been almost three years now since he was even remotely effective. Not sure how you come back from that. We shall see.

Is that worth $8.44M or would the money be better spent on someone else?

I think we've been down the salary cap hell road many times with Adams the past 2-3 years.

His out isn't until next year, so you don't really have any real savings. No way Pete and John are cool with taking an almost 24M dead cap hit this year.

But next off season John's gonna pull his hamstring running to cut his ass, no matter if he remains upright or not this year.

When he is on his game he is a game wrecker to opposing offences. In answer to your question check out the dead cap hit.

Trading him prior to him proving he's back would be selling low.

If he returns to form he's worth the money.
