  • The Gimp is a very good Photoshop alternative. I have a question, though; is there a good alternative for professional video editing software? (like Adobe Premiere Pro, Sony Vegas Pro, etc.)

  • I found GIMP about a year ago and love it. The interface and layering takes a little getting used to but for the low low price of $free.95 it's great!

I've used The GIMP for a few things (like editing electronic signatures) for years, and it's a good program.

However, due to The GIMP's less-approachable UI, I've recently started to use Paint.NET more and more for simple image editing tasks. I still use both, but found it easier to teach less-tech (Windows) users to do simple tasks using Paint.NET.

FYI, The GIMP also works on Linux, while Paint.NET is Windows-only.
