Brock Huard’s 2019 NFL Draft preview: Mississippi State DT Jeffery Simmons

Scouting report: Simmons racked up plenty of honors while at Mississippi State. He was named to the 2016 SEC All-Freshman Team, First-Team All-SEC in 2017 and 2018, was a 2018 Conerly Trophy winner (given to the top college player in Mississippi), and was a semi-finalist for the 2018 Chuck Bednarik Award (presented to the best defensive player in college football). In three years with the Bulldogs, Simmons racked up 163 tackles, seven sacks, and one touchdown on a fumble recovery.

Brock Huard’s 2019 NFL Draft preview: UW DB Taylor Rapp

Brock’s take: “Defensive back out of the University of Washington. And I think ‘defensive back’ is key, because I don’t think you can just pigeon-hole Taylor Rapp and say he’s a safety, he’s a free safety, he’s a strong safety, or he’s a nickel-back corner. He’s all those things. He’s also a guy that had four sacks last year for a Husky defense that desperately needed pass rush. It didn’t take long for Taylor Rapp to make all of us notice. We all remember the Pac-12 title game that put the Huskies in the national semi-final. It was really on Rapp’s shoulders that they got there.

(Listen to Huard’s full breakdown of Rapp in the audio clip embedded in the article.)

Brock Huard’s 2019 NFL Draft preview: Arizona State WR N’Keal Harry

Brock’s take: “I think of any of the 10 guys or so we’re going to profile heading up to the draft, this is the prettiest (profile)… what has Pete Carroll always, always, always coveted for the three or four decades that he’s been around football?

Big, athletic, game-changing wide receivers. And he went through a whole litany of them. The Seahawks paid Sidney Rice really good money early on. They brought Mike Williams on until he got to weigh in at about 270-pounds and he was too big. Chris Matthews got his shot. Coach Carroll has liked big wide receivers. David Moore, Jaron Brown last year, Amara Darboh was a third-round pick and sure looks pretty.

Taylor's time dropped at the combine because he bulked up too quick for the combine. For most of his Husky career he was a 4.5-40 guy. This will probably hurt him in the draft so I think someone might get a real steal in him.
