Anyone know much about this kid? He is currently ranked as the 12-th best DE, #121-overall and a round 3/4 pick at cbssports.com. Seems pretty high for an FCS player, but from what I've read, he's very smart & aggressive & has consistently performed well. May be a guy to keep an eye on through the process if he puts up decent long speed/10-yd split times and scores well on agility drills. He reportedly has run a 4.68/40, which IIRC was Clemmons # in the 40. Cliff Avril can't last forever & Bruce Irvin is probably going away.

DE/OLB/LEO?-James Cowser. rSr., So. Utah, 6-31/258.
2014 had 28.5 TFL (breaking Jared Allen's Big Sky conference record) & 11.5 sacks, 3-FF, 2-blocked kicks.

2015 BIG SKY DEFENSIVE PLAYER OF THE YEAR (COACHES): James Cowser, Southern Utah....defensive end James Cowser is the recipient of this season's Defensive Player of the Year award, in part due to his role leading the Big Sky's top defense.

Cowser, who is a two-time all-Big Sky first-team player, finished the season with 11 sacks and 17 tackles-for-loss. (In the process of posting those statistics, Cowser set the FCS all-time record in both categories, as well as besting the Big Sky records posted by Idaho State's Jared Allen). and is now the FCS's all-time career leader in both sacks (43) and tackles for loss (80), surpassing the old records of 41.5 and 72.5.

In 2014 - Cowser had 28.5 TFL & 11.5 sacks, 3-FF, 2-blocked kicks. Cowser is a candidate for National Defensive Player of the Year. - Big Sky Football SUU's James Cowser was named the best FCS defensive player of the year by the FCS Athletics Directors Association for 2014.
