I love following reruiting, its a year long roller coaster. I know at least a couple others here follow it as well so I figured i'd start a thread and update it all year as commits come in. I'm pretty dialed in to Oregon recruiting, and somewhat dialed in to Washington recruiting, so i'll focus on them, but if anybody wants to add stuff about WSU or OSU, or anybody else for that matter, it would be awesome. I personally love college football as a whole way more than I love the NFL as a whole, so following recruiting also helps you know kids all across the country before they ever even suit up for their college teams. (and yes, i realize that obsessing over high school kids can be kind of creepy, but i'm not the type that follows them on twitter, or gets upset when a kid chooses another school. I just get my info from recruiting websites, specifically 247.)

One thing to keep in mind is that both UW and Oregon are expected to have pretty small classes in 2017. I've heard that UW will probably have between 15-17 while Oregon will have 20-22 spots to fill. So to begin with, UO and UW both have 2 commits each already.

I'll begin with UO's:

Ryan Kelley, is a high 4 star QB from Arizona. I think he has a good chance to be a 5 star by the time this class is done after he goes through the summer camp circuit and everything. This kid can spin it. I think he's probably the best throwing QB the Ducks have ever got commited, including Mariota, and he's a decent but not spectacular runner. Junior highlights:

Langi Tuifua, 4 star WDE from Utah. He was the Ducks first commit for 2017. Might be a linebacker, or might be a defensive end, just depends on how much weight he puts on. Junior highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2796620/hig ... /243704378

Here are UW's guys they already have commited.

Keith Taylor, 4 star CB from Anaheim He was the Huskies first commitment. Tall, rangy CB. Seems to be pretty solid to UW, but his high school is traditionally a feeder school to USC, so if they offer him things could get interesting. Junior highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3394134/hig ... /309019422

Connor Wedington, unranked athlete from Sumner, Wa. He just commited the other day. With UW having a small class, quite frankly i'm a little surprised that they took his commit this early. It means that he must be somebody that CP really likes though. He's listed as an athlete but i've read that he's going to start out at RB for UW. Also plays DB. Looks pretty good on tape, but I dont know what kind of competition he's playing against.

One nice thing this year is that this is by far the most talent i've ever seen in the states of Oregon and WAshington. I'm going to highlight a few of those kids.

First, the Oregon kids...

Elijah Molden, 4* CB from West Linn.

I think he's actually underrated by the recruiting services because he's from Oregon and we dont get a lot of attention here. He's a true shut down corner. He's the closest thing there is to a Duck lock, because his daddy was a great Duck. I've heard that Stanford is the one and only school that might be able to steal him away, but I think he ends up a Duck. Junior highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3511071/hig ... /317603384

Marlon Tuipolutu, 4* DT, from INdependence, Or

He just moved to Oregon so he doesnt really have a ton of local roots to keep him in state as most Oregon high school players do. This kids a beast. Both the Huskies and the Ducks are coming strong at this kid. He's also got offers from USC, BYU, Utah and others. I think he'll end up a Duck, but wouldnt be at all surprised if he ends up somewhere else, including UW. Junior highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3208424/hig ... /311947394

David Morris, 3* LB from Sherwood, Oregon

Doesnt have an offer yet but if the Ducks offer he'll be in Eugene. I like this kid a lot. Junior Highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/4192855/hig ... /301884386

Demetrius Douglas, unrated athlete from Jesuit High School

Hasnt really splashed yet because he was injured much of his junior season. He's an electric athlete. Will probably end up at CB but could be a WR. Already has an Oregon offer and will probably end up a Duck. We've had several guys from his high school the last few years. Highlightes:

Now for some Washington dudes...Some SERIOUS talent in the state this year:

Foster Sarrell, 5* o'line, Top 10 nationally rated player, from Graham Washington.

He's most likely going to be a Husky. Oregon, Stanford and USC are all in the conversation, but everything i've read points to WAshington. Highlights, i think these are from his sophomore year, cant find any junior highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3258116/hig ... /163626391

Henry Bainivalu, high 4* o'line, from Seattle

Another guy that will probably end up a Husky since he can pretty much walk to campus. Two really good in state o'linemen for UW. I think the main competition right now is Michigan, but i think he ends up a Husky. Cant find his junior highlights either, but here's his sophomore tape:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3016306/hig ... /233264376

Salvon Ahmen, 4* athlete from Kirland

I love, love, love this kid. I think he's underranked. He has De'anthony thomas like electricity. I think its going to be an Oregon vs WAshington battle. I think his recruitment might end up like Budda Bakers (who was commited to Oregon for a few months before flipping to UW). I think he'll give the Ducks a long, hard look and i wouldnt be surprised if he ends up here, Stanford, USC, OSU, WSU and others have already offered. UW has a good chance of keeping him in state, but i think he might be open to leaving state as well. We'll see. I know he just had an unofficial visit to UW over this past weekend.
Highlights:

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/2657097/hig ... /297844377

Hunter Bryant, 4* TE from Bellevue

Dont know much about this kid, but i'm assuming since he's from Bellevue he'll probably end up at UW. Also has offers listed from Nebraska and WSU

http://www.hudl.com/athlete/3332826/hig ... /319460461

Dontae Powell, high 3* o'linemen from Richland.

As of right now Washington State is his only offer. I'm sure he'll be receiving more.

- Foster Sarrell, is going to come down to stanford and UW. Probably won't commit until January

- Henry Bainivalu, is a bIg UW lean that should commit in the summertime

- Salvon Ahmen, would be surprised if he didn't end up at UW. Will also commit in January

- Hunter Bryant, is a UW lean but is down on the UW board. There telling him to take his time while working on Jimmy Jaggers who they have rated higher at the tight end position. They are in his top 2 with Michigan and he is making his decision in the spring. I think he ends up at Michigan because Jim Harbaugh doesn't miss when it comes to TE.

- Dontae Powell he is talented and would have a lot more offers including one from UW if it wasn't for his academics. He has a lot of work to do in that department.

-Foster, Henry, Salvon, Hunter, and Connor are the only in-state recruits UW has offered. The only other in state recruit could see them offering if Dontae if he gets his academics in order.

I like Kelley a lot. He's small. 6'1", 175. But who cares, he's really smart and plays the position like it's second nature. He's also a sneaky good scrambler. In a lot of ways he reminds me of Jake Browning, though I think Kelley has a stronger arm (not as strong as Mariota's, though).

Yep, give him another recruiting class or two and harbaugh is going to build a monster over there. Michigan comes to Seattle in 2020 then in 2021 the huskies head to Ann Arbor. That could be a great series if both continue their upward trends.

Sounds like Ducks basketball player Dwayne Benjamin is going to join the football team as a wr. He's out of eligibility for hoops, but since he didnt redshirt he has one year of eligibility in which he can play football.

As a high school wide receiver he was good enough to get offered by LSU and others. I doubt he see's signifigant field time, but it cant hurt to have a guy who's 6'6", and can jump out of the gym, down around the goal line.

Husky rb deontee cooper is transferring to San Jose state. If everything goes right for the huskies he probably wouldn't have seen the field a whole lot, but a blow to the depth.

He's a big RB but otherwise he's pretty mediocre and injury prone. The Bryce Brown of Husky RBs. He got buried behind much better RBs last year. I wish him well.

The last two recruits the Huskies just got shows just how dialed in Chris Peterson and company are right now.

Huskies failed to land a big time WR and DT in 2016 recruiting class despite strong efforts that came down to end.

So they turned around and went hard after two of the top West Coast players at those respective positions in the 2017 class.

Washington is building the foundations of a strong football program and the top recruits are taking notice and taking interest.

If the team can start winning 9+ games a year, I feel in a few years Washington is going to be the school to beat for the top West Coast recruits and most definately the Washington State players.

Here's his junior highlights. His high school coach sure liked the fade routes with him.

I've never heard the term "recruiting" used when discussing high schoolers. Granted, this is on different types of message boards, but still. Anyway, I've always heard it referred to as "grooming". Just happy I have a new place to discuss such things.
