Smaller than we normally look at, but he's a speed freak and extremely explosive. San Jose used him as a Percy harvin type player out of the backfuield. He ran it, split wide, jet sweeps, screens. He's a also a kick return guy.

As a runner he's a decisive one cut and go runner who goes 100% from the get go. He's slippery, but not shifty or powerful, other than the fact that he converts speed into power.

He's a excellent receiver.

Tail end depth. So I would assume ST value.

Given that, have to think we're looking to protect Lockett on KO return duties. The more Lock becomes a WR threat, the less you're going to want to expose him. Kickoff returners are the most fungible of the return guys.

Interesting because it seems this isn't the first guy we've looked at of this type.

I do like what is see from Ervin, explosive and runs fairly tough for a 185 lb guy. The 49er, Steelers, and Raiders running back coaches put Ervin ran him through drills at his pro day, so he has lot of interest from other teams. I read that he is considered a 3rd round prospect, which is too rich for my blood. I feel like we would be getting away from our physical identity by creating plays and maybe trying to get too cute with a Percy Harvin type player.

They kicked the tires on Lance Dunbar, now this. The Seahawks have seemingly gone from searching for 220 pounders to mighty-mite RBs. It's pretty cool to see this team adapt on the fly.

This Ervin guy is FAST. Blowing by SEC defenders. He almost feels like the Tyler Lockett of RBs.

Damn, he outruns DB's and carrying the ball to boot.

Let's replace Irvin, and get an Ervin..... :D

Pat Kirwan has been all over Ervin since the Sr Bowl week. His ability to cut and get to top speed ultra quick is impressive. I believe he is willing and able in pass-pro as well even tho he is small in stature. I think he would be a great fit in our new offense.

He reminds me a bit of Mo Morris.

Most fast guys you have to put on the clock to see how fast they are. This guy just watching him play you can see that he's the fastest player on the field. I don't really see much vision or moves though.

Yeah, he's definitely a one cut and run fast kind of runner. That's part of where the MO Morris comparisons come from too.

I love his tape. I think the Seahawks are limited for huge upgrades but a third down specialist is one area I think they feel they can make a huge difference from last year. Jackson was a great pro and reliable but I think they want to add to that role in the offense and can do so rather cheaply. Just a hunch though.

I like how he feels blocks and uses speed to elude.

He seems like a star in the making to me. He took over a game against an SEC defense with no help from his supporting cast. That's pretty special.

I was pretty impressed when watching those Auburn highlights. He pounds the ball in between the Tackles a lot for a 185 lb guy, especially against an SEC defense. Also, not a lot of gadget plays, all conventional RB stuff. He looks like he'd be a good change of pace back for sure.

With Rawls and Michael, that would be a LOT of speed in our backfield.

Mo Morris: 4.53 forty / 1.60 ten-yard split / 36.5" vert.
Tyler Ervin: 4.39 forty / 1.56 ten-yard split / 39" vert.

Morris had average speed with above average explosiveness.
Ervin has elite speed with elite explosiveness. Not just a combine warrior either, the speed shows up on gameday.

The LT #72 Schweitzer looks pretty decent. 6'5" 302# probably udfa, don't think he was at the combine.

I consider MO Morris comparisons a compliment. MO was a good back and an ideal 3rd down RB. Ervin has a similar game. Decisive, north south runner, converts speed into power, good blocker, great hands.

i like some of his runs between the tackle, but he looks like a terrible blocker. For a "3rd down" RB that's kind of a deal breaker for me.
