Watch Vannett, I have no idea about the guard, and Prosise I've went back and forth on, but Vannett might be the closest were ever gonna get back to Miller. Which is pretty sweet.

For need they did well. But I think alot of things have to develop the right way for each player to see their potential. As is, I really don't see anyone who is plug and play type player (maybe Jarren Reed).

Feels a bit like a Ruskell draft. Targeting role players very very early. Trading down in round 1, then trading up in round 2. Drafting character guys over athletes.

After hearing JS's "200 players on his big board" comment, and then looking at how the draft was sorely lacking athletes, I figured the PCJS approach might be different this year. But I didn't think it would be this different.

I think Vannett was my favorite pick today. Bevell is going to have to earn his paycheck finding ways to scheme Vannett open because he's never going to win matchups, but otherwise he's a stud.

I think Vannett is going to be giving Russ some extra protection ala Zach Miller and be a move TE and in 2 years will likely be the only TE still on this roster. The Hawks have said they'd like to get more 2 TE sets but something seems to always happen and it never materializes. Perhaps this is the year.

You're giving Ruskell way too much credit. He could have never pulled off a draft like this.

Vannett isn't fast, but he has quick feet. With good technique he shouldn't have a problem getting open.

I like the fact that the guys that have been drafted have all played ALOT in college and were multiple year starters (except Prosise) at highly competitive schools.

I like it a helluva better than guys who are loaded with potential, but didn't really perform in college.

Actually he already has pretty good technique. It's just that he doesn't separate and in that Ohio State offense there were always open receivers to choose over him. In Seattle it will be very similar.

PC/JS said themselves that Vannett is a "Y" tight end. He's here for his blocking. I think he's probably a 100-200 receiving yards a year player. And I like the pick anyway because that's how good of a blocker he is.

I was really just talking about day 2 of this particular draft and saying that it had a lot of similar tendencies to Ruskell and the way he drafted. I wasn't talking about the outcomes, just about style and decision-making tendencies.

Ruskell loved drafting fullbacks, long snappers, kickers, situational players, blocking tight ends, 3rd down backs, etc. On day two of the 2016 draft, JS went for a run stuffer specialist, a 3rd down back, and a pure blocking TE. The picks all came from major programs, were 3-4 year players and had high character grades.

This is in contrast with how PCJS had previously drafted, where they tried to target cornerstone players in the draft and then focused on UDFA and FA to acquire specialists. Often while picking from small schools and taking athletes with character concerns.

Other than maybe Ifedi or Jefferson (sack$), I don't know if any of the 2016 draftees can expect a big payday in four years. I think the team added some nice situational contributors but nobody that's going to inspire us to look back in awe the same way we did for 2010-2012.

Okay. ..usually you know what you are talking about. So what happened here? Especially when combined with the UFDA strategy and the full picture.. I'm kinda disappointed in your knee jerk opinion actually.

Nearly is just saying he is shocked by the drastic divergence away from athletes with high ceilings to a more conventional approach.

I think it has to do with the depth of the draft. They had more players meet criteria so they could be more selective I what they wanted to add.

Superb draft and PCJS handed the rest of the league an absolute arse kicking in UDFA. Unreal who they managed to sign up after the draft. Truly incredible in terms of numbers and quality.

I was talking about day 2 only in the text you quoted. I thought PCJS were very much in character on days 1, 3, and UDFA.
