All-Star games are always intriguing and a nice tool for evaluating talent. Here is a list of players I'll be keeping an eye on, and I highlighted players I think fit the Seahawks.

EAST TEAM

(RB) De'Veon Smith 5-11 228 lbs, Michigan: Smith is my favorite late round RB. Smith is really physical and there are not many RB's in the draft that run as hard as Smith.

(WR/KR) Kermit Whitefield 5-8 184 lbs, Florida St (wearing #7 for the game): Whitefield was a big time track guy in high school and highly recruited. If you want a speedy slot WR then Kermit is that guy.

(TE) Eric Saubert 6-4 247 lbs, Drake (wearing #85 for the game): I've read that he has been really impressive during the Shrine Game practices.

(OT) Dieugot Joseph 6-5 299 lbs, Florida International (wearing #78 for the game): Jospeh has great size attributes; 10.5 in hand size, 35.6 inch arm length, and 83.5 inch wingspan.

(OG) Adam Pankey 6-4 313 lbs, West Virginia (wearing #57 for the game): Pankey has very good size attributes; 10.1 inch hand size, 34.5 inch arm length, and 83.5 inch wingspan.

(DT) Jason Carr 6-5 312 lbs, West Georgia (wearing #92 for the game): Carr was a 4-star recruit coming out of high school.

(DE) Ejuan Price 5-11 246 lbs, Pittsburgh (wearing #96 for the game): Price doesn't fit the size or length the Seahawks like in their DE's. Price looks like a quick twitch pass rusher, and I hope he gets some reps at LB during the game.

(DE) Trey Hendrickson 6-3 255 lbs, Florida Atlantic (wearing #99 for the game): I have read that Hendrickson has looked very good in the Shrine practices.

(CB/S) Jack Tocho 5-11 200 lbs, NC State (wearing #29 for the game): Tocho looks like a good athlete, possible FS at the next level.

WEST TEAM

(WR) Billy Brown 6-3 254 lbs, Shepard (wearing #81 for the game): Brown will probably have to move to TE or FB at the next level. He looks too slow to stick at WR in the NFL, but he may have the potential to be the next Marcel Reece.

(TE) Michael Roberts 6-4 259 lbs, Toledo (wearing #82 for the game): Roberts is a well rounded TE. He has maxed out his 6-4 frame, he is a stout player that should hold his ground vs bigger pass rushers. Roberts has huge hands, at 11.6 inches, which is a great attribute for a pass catcher.

(OT/OG) Geoff Gray 6-5 319 lbs, Manitoba (wearing #67 for the game): Gray is considered the #1 draft prospect for the CFL. Gray competed in weightlifting.

(DT) Ralph Green 6-3 317 lbs, Indiana (wearing #96 for the game): Green is a monster vs the run. He is also good at breaking up pass at the LOS with his long arms.

(DT) Josh Tupou 6-2 362 lbs, Colorado (wearing #55 for the game): Tupou stood out as a very good run-stopper when I watched Colorado. But, at 362 lbs I'm concerned that he put on 20+ pounds since his season ended.

(LB) Jimmie Gilbert 6-4 223 lbs, Colorado (wearing #92 for the game): Gilbert looks really athletic and could possibly take over the Bruce Irvin role on our defense.

(CB) Treston DeCoud 6-2 203 lbs, Oregon St (wearing #14 for the game): DeCoud is one of many big CB's in this years draft.

(DE) Avery Moss 6-3 262 lbs, Youngstown (wearing #90 for the game): Moss played at Nebraska prior to Youngstown.

Thanks for the info.

I think the biggest thing we need is someone tall with long arms to try and block/tip those quick passes. Ralph Green may be that guy.

We saw what happened at Atlanta, and to me, nothing could be more important than someone tall who can get their hands in the way, because there just isn't enough time for a DE/DT/LB to get to the QB in many of these situations.

OOPS! THanks for the heads up. I think I eliminated all of last years links

There are a bunch of teams that will be scouting the Shrine Game, and it's always fun to look at it from some other teams, or fans viewpoints. That said, here's some links to articles by Non-Seahawks fans and teams.

OOPS! Thanks for the heads up. I've updated the links

Mayock is just too good not to post some of his notes:

Richie Brown, LB, Mississippi State

I've been tracking him all week long and he keeps doing good things; he's had a good week here. He's been solid against the run and a little better against the pass than what I saw on tape. He's helped himself.

Watch the East-West Shrine Game on NFL Network at 3 p.m. ET Saturday, with host Andrew Siciliano, analysts Mike Mayock and Daniel Jeremiah, and sideline reporter Alex Flanagan.

Jack Tocho, CB, North Carolina State

Nate Hairston, CB, Temple

I mentioned him in my report on Tuesday, and I keep coming back to him. The Temple players always compete at a very high level. I think it's because they feel under-recruited and come in with an edge, and the coaching staff there knows how to use that as motivation. They might not always have the perfect NFL traits but they have an edge to them that I like. Three of them got drafted last year, not very high, but they all played and played well as rookies. And LB Tyler Matakevich, taken by Pittsburgh in the final round, is still playing. They all love to compete, and Hairston reminds me of those three in that regard.

hase Roullier, OL, Wyoming

He's much bigger than I thought from what I saw on tape. He's handling pass protection really well. And he's opened some eyes this week.

Mayock is just too good not to post some of his notes:

Manitoba DL Ebuka Onyemata: He's got a big-time body. He's listed 6-4, 300, he has no idea what he's doing yet, but he's got size and he's got movement skills. He's very raw, but he's got an ability to turn into something. A few years ago, Akiem Hicks from Canada was in this game and became a third-round pick. I'm not saying (Onyemata) is a third-round pick, but he's got talent and movement skills, and some team is going to want to develop that.

» Colorado OT Stephane Nembot: He didn't play much high school football, and went to Colorado as a defensive end and got moved to tackle, so he's hardly played football. But he's 6-7, 320, with good feet as a former basketball player. He has no clue what he's doing, but he's a raw, developmental prospect and that's what this game's all about.

» Nebraska OT Alex Lewis: He's had a solid week, I think he's one of the better offensive linemen in this game, along with the Michigan kid, Graham Glasgow, who is on the East team.

» Boston College safety Justin Simmons: He's not necessarily a highly rated kid but he might be able to play both safety and corner. He's big and strong, and I loved his tape against Notre Dame. (Youtube link below)

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Wzk53iaoNUw

North Carolina State OL Joe Thuney: He played tackle in college, but they're kicking him inside here and playing him at guard. He's had a pretty good week so far. I'll be interested to see how he finishes it out. I like his versatility; he could be a swing lineman.

» South Carolina OT Brandon Shell: His play here has been better than his tape. It looks like he's lost some weight. He's looked good in the one-on-one drills. He's displayed good footwork and has been really aggressive. He's a kid I need to do some more work on because of th

West team practice

» Illinois safety Clayton Fejedelem: The kid's been all around the ball for two days now. He had 140 tackles this past season so you knew coming in that he was a tough guy. And he is. But it has been nice to see him around the ball, making plays in the passing game.

Nebraska OT Alex Lewis: He's had two solid days with his pass sets in the one-on-one drills. I'm eager to watch him take over in the team drills in these practices, but I really like him in the one-on-one pass sets.

I like Mayock as well, he's passionate when giving his scouting thoughts on prospects.

FYI those scouting reports on players that played in last years game.

Seattle held an interview with tight end Antony Auclair from Universite' Laval. Looks like we've found our new left tackle.

I wouldn't doubt it.

Here is some highlight tape of Auclair. He looks like a beast when run blocking and impressive in pass pro. Also, looks fairly athletic and plays with an edge as a receiver.

Le'Raven Clark, didn't even play last year

On a different note according to Walterfootball we are showing a lot of interest in Uconn Saftey Obi Melifonwu. Along with them saying we are showing interest Terrell McClain from the Dallas cowboys, he's an interior disrupter type.

From Matt Miller at Bleacher Report:

Cooper Kupp, the small-school wide receiver on everyone's mind coming into this week, did not disappoint with his separation skills and hands. Kupp was the best receiver on the field for either team and showed that he's fighting for the No. 3 wide receiver spot in the class.

There are times where he'll have a concentration drop, but Kupp's speed and route running were top-notch. And while Kupp weighed in under 200 pounds, I'm told he'll be heavier for the combine now that he's healthy and can commit to working out again.

That kid is awesome. I think he just caught another one against the ducks.

Kupp was also clocked at 20.7 mph which is the fastest on the North Team. Whoever gets him is going to be very happy. I hope it is the Seahawks, but most likely not after what he has done this week at the Senior Bowl. I have already heard that he probably won't make it out of the first round. If he runs in the low to mid 4.4's, he will be gone first day.

More on Kupp from MMQB:

The player emerging as the Senior Bowl darling is a wide receiver from Eastern Washington: Cooper Kupp........But Kupp is the guy I’ve heard the most buzz on. One West Coast area scout couldn’t stop gushing over his potential while an assistant general manager I asked about him said simply: “He’s the real deal. Could be a Day 1 starter.” Philly beat guy Jeff McLane has an excellent story about Kupp’s connections to the FCS breakout player from last year’s game, Carson Wentz. Kupp may be from a small school, but he has big connections. His grandfather played with Archie Manning, and Kupp has been a regular at the Manning Passing Academy since childhood.

Here's the Jeff McLane article http://www.philly.com/philly/sports/eagles/411709716.html

Obi Melifonwu looked legit as a possible CB in the few reps I saw of him lined up at CB. For me he is the most intriguing player in the draft. I love fact that the Seahawks were one of the teams showing the most interest in Obi.

I would like the signing of Terrell McClain. Signing McClain would address a need a bring us a bargain priced, yet good DT. The depth at DT in this years free agency is so deep.
