  • WR -> DT -> LB

I don't think that will happen. A taller WR not named Kearse would be nice of course, but everything besides two out of outside CB, Nickel and OL with the first 3 picks doesn't seem realistic to me.

  • I'll preface this by saying I'm no expert, but I'd be incredibly disappointed if this was how the draft shook out. I'm a bigger fan of the last three picks over the first three. That said, I could see it happening.

  • Always expect the unexpected with the Seahawks and the draft. I definitely could see this happening, I would hope if Zay Jones is someone there targeting they trade back a few spots and aquire more picks. Nice mock

  • Until recently I was stuck on us draft a CB with one of our first two picks.

A few things clicked recently. We have only once spent a high pick on a CB under Carroll when we picked up Thurmond. We have taken multiple late round and UDFA and gotten above average play or better out of them. Of all the positions I think Pete is most confident he can coach up DB's. In a draft this deep at CB is a first Rd CB that much more likely to pan out? Not this year. I bet a number of the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th Rd CB's have amazing rookie years. We have a number of guys already on the team with the measurables we look for competing.

Now why go WR early? For one I think Zay Jones has the highest floor, the guy is going to be a NFL starting WR. He may not be a Julio or AJ, but he has all the attributes of a long term starting WR.

We often are surprised at draft time because the team is looking at next year. Well next year both Richardson and Kearse could/will be gone. Lockett has a major recovery ahead. I'm really high on Macevoy but really Baldwin is it. Our WR corps is in need of some talent. Zay would fit in with his competitivness and be favorite target for Russ as he has the work ethic to earn respect in the locker early on.

  • Defense wins championships, I am not sold on a Single Offensive player worth a 1st round pick in this entire draft outside of the TE's, Lamp, Bowles, Fournette, Mixon.

I wouldn't be surprised if we trade back or trade up in the 2nd to get Jones.

  • I would be happy with Zay JOnes in the 1st. He's a #1 Wide Receiver in the NFL.

But I would prefer Jabrill Peppers overall. He's my number one guy based on him being a football player, being versatile, and we need a returner for the first part of the season. He's a guy than can play the nickel, and safety and we would need one less Linebacker.

John Ross at #26 would be cool with me.

  • Jones worries me because he avg. 10 yards per catch over 4 years in a lower level conference. Doesn't seem like the production warrants a first round pick. I know he had all kinds of receptions but not many td's and not a ton of yards. He would be a huge improvement over Kearse and I think he will be a productive pro, just not a first round kind of guy

I like him but do you really think that the hawks would take another Thin Speedy WR with a injury history and a high pick? Sounds all too familiar to me.

Agreed, his value isnt top 45, it would be a wasted pick imo. Defense is the solution.

  • WR isn't the problem.

The "elite" D is, we lost the SB not because of Bevell, but because the D gave up a 10 pt lead. Since then it's been a steady decline. We need new blood on the side, or we won't be going to another SB anytime soon.

    I agree....

The more I read about OBi Melifonu (sp?) the more I think he's the pick if he's there when we pick.

  • If the Seahawks are interested in WR-Zay Jones and pick him in Round 1 or 2, are they getting the best value with their draft pick? IMO-The alternative to a Zay Jones early round pick is to use one of the 3-rd round comp picks on WR-Taywan Taylor. Here are the #'s on both. On the one hand, Jones is 3" taller but Taylor has better ypc & more consistent production & TD's. They seem to be close on workout #'s. If it were me picking, I'd take Taylor with one of the 3rd round comp picks and use the 2-nd round pick on DE, CB or DL. So, who's the better WR value to you guys?

    WR-Zay Jones, E. Carolina, 6-2/201, 32.5"-arms, 9" hands -- NFL grade 5.71 - A likely Rd-2 pick
    4.45/40, 2.61/20, 1.55/10, 15-reps, 36.5"-Vert, 133"-Broad, 6.79-3cone, 4.01-20yd shuttle, 11.17-60yd shut.
    133.7-pSPARQ, 1.6-z-score, 94.2-NFL%
    2016: 158 rec for 1746-ypc & 8-TD's, 11.05-ypc avg.
    2015: 98 rec for 1099-ypc & 5-Td's, 11.21-ypc avg.
    2014: 81 rec for 830-ypc & 5-TD's, 10.24-ypc avg.
    2014: 62 rec for 604-yds & 5-TD;s, 9.74-ypc avg.
    CAREER: 399 rec for 4279-yds & 23-TD's, 10.72-ypc avg.
    ---- 1 TD for every 17.35 receptions
    -cbssports.com 4/24/2017 ranking = #62-overall, projected Rd-2
    -drafttek.com 4/17/2017 ranking = #42-overall
    -draftwired2.com 4/23/2017 ranking = #36-overall

    WR-Taywan Taylor, W. Kentucky, 5-11/203, 32-5/8"-arms, 9-1/4"-hands -- NFL grade 5.66 - A likely Rd-3 pick
    4.50/40, 2.56/20, 1.52/10, 13-reps, 38"-vert, 132"-Broad, 6.57-3cone, 4.21-20-yd shuttle, 11.21-60-yd shut.
    136.0-pSPARQ, 1.8-z-score, 96.1-NFL%
    2016: 98 rec for 1730-yds & 17-TD's, 17.65-ypc avg.,
    2015: 86 rec for 1467-yds & 17-TD's, 17.05-ypc avg,
    2014: 45 rec for 767-yds & 7-TD's, 17.04-ypc avg.
    2013: 24 rec for 270-yds & 0-TD's, 11.25-ypc avg.
    CAREER: 253 rec for 4234-yds & 41-TD's, 16.74-ypc avg.
---- 1 TD for every 16.2 receptions, (would be 1 TD for every 10.27 rec if he had 399-rec like Jones)
---- WR Taywan Taylor produced 26 catches of 40-plus yards over the last two seasons, the highest number in the 2017 class. Source: Dane Brugler on Twitter

    -cbssports.com 4/24/2017 ranking = #110-overall, projected Rd-3-ish.
    -drafttek.com 4/17/217 ranking = #103-overall
    -draftwired2.com 4/23/2017 ranking = #104-verall

Richardson and Lockett have slight builds and injuries but they were 4.40 guys. Ross is on a whole another level at 4.22-that's Deion and Moss speed. If he falls to 26 and despite our many needs elsewhere I just think you have to take this guy. He could really be something special. No guarantee Lockett is going to be quite the same and PRich could be gone in a year.

That said, I actually agree that I'm sure we'll be trading down yet again. A shame perhaps if we only end up netting a 4th.
