Playoff committee chair: UGA over Bama close call

The decision to rank Georgia higher than Alabama in the initial College Football Playoff rankings wasn't an easy one.

ATHENS, Ga. -- Georgia is now the nation’s No. 1 team according to the rankings that matter -- the College Football Playoff rankings. Those came out Tuesday evening and had the Bulldogs in the top spot followed by Alabama at No. 2, Notre Dame at No. 3, and Clemson at No. 4.

Oklahoma came in at No. 5 followed by Ohio State at No. 6.

CFB Playoff committee chairman Kirby Hocutt spoke with ESPN’s Rece Davis live on the show that revealed the rankings where he discussed what it was that allowed the Bulldogs to be ranked above the team ranked No. 1 in both the AP and Coaches polls.

“At the end of the day it was the two wins against CFP top 25 teams for Georgia,” Hocutt said. “Especially the win over No. 3 Notre Dame, gave Georgia the very slight edge over Alabama this week.”

This ranking I can agree with ..Akabama has not really played anybody worth noting.
Georgia beat a very tough ND team ..By one point.
Clemson at 4 is funny ..I can't agree with that one
