Rutgers has withdrawn from a two-game football series with UCLA scheduled for 2020 and 2021.

According to a deal signed in 2009, the schools were to play a home-and-home series at Rutgers in 2016 and at the Rose Bowl in 2017. However, in 2014, those games were pushed back to 2020 and 2021, respectively, to accommodate a Rutgers series with Washington.

UCLA says it offered to flip the order of the games to keep the deal intact, but Rutgers declined.

As part of the deal, Rutgers is required to pay UCLA a $500,000 termination fee within 30 days of being asked.

Rutgers has already replaced those games with a home & home series with former Big East rival Syracuse.

And apparently Syracuse had those dates open because they backed out of a home & home with Wisconsin.

So, the only option at this point is for UCLA and Wisconsin to play each other in 2020/2021, really.

Looks like Wisconsins schedule is already full both of those years. UCLA will probably end up having to play UC Davis or something like that.

So if they agree, does UCLA still keep the $500,000?

Or do they simply take the money and run?
