Has there been a bigger disappointment in college football this year? From a #15 preseason ranking to not even making a bowl game. I imagine Helton gets the axe within 24 hours of the end of their upcoming loss to Notre Dame.

It would be hard to imagine him not getting fired.
And yet there is a rumor that Swann plans to give him another year.

Either way, the Trojan Family is not too happy right now. People like Clay as a person, but they want Clay the coach gone.

Apparently, they gave Helton a massive contract extension before this season. It pays him through 2023 with a $15 million buyout. And USC is facing a number of lawsuits related to a molestor gynecologist who sexually assaulted a large number of students. Things are in disarray at USC.

Latest rumor is that some boosters are threatening to back out of buying high-priced box seats at the (currently being) renovated Coliseum, ticket sales are way down for next year and the interim President has given Swann permission to axe Clay. Some say he’s gone after today’s game and others say the outcome of today’s game will be the determining factor.

We are not exactly favorites to win today, so things aren’t looking good for Helton either way—if any of this is true.

It’s too bad. He’s a really good guy, but’s it increasingly become clear he’s in way over his head.

Helton reminds me almost exactly of Mark Helfrich as Ducks head coach. Both seem like really good dudes, both are probably really good and smart with the X’s And O’s, neither have the alpha dog personality necessary to run big time programs.

Offensive coordinator Tee Martin fired. Heard that their d coordinator may go as well. Martin was more of a recruiter then an x's and o's guy, imo. They've also fired their d'line and db coaches.

It's cleaning house day today, so far 3 gone. Looks like Kingsbury is on campus today, possible new OC. Good Coordinator, don't know about the scheme/personnel fit.

Defensive Coordinator Clancy Pendergast is now gone.

Armed with a new coaching staff USC will begin their yearly pilfering of other Pac-team's recruits.

Clancy is not gone, at least not yet. False alarm.

Tee Martin, Ronnie Bradford and Kenechi Udeze are gone. Big KU is a tough loss to swallow. He’s a good coach and recruiter, but rumor has it he and Clancy don’t mesh very well.

QB coach Brian Ellis is headed to WKU as OC under Tyson Helton.

Kingsbury is also reportedly getting a lot of interest from NFL teams. Hope Clay and Swann have a good b/u plan in case.
