We'll see a differant type of defense in 2013. Dan Quinn saying we'll see more blitzing from the LBer position. What does this mean as far as what we might see this season? Our new defensive line coach comming over from New Orleans will we see bigger DEs, could Red Byant be moved to DT and Bruce Irvin moved to OLBer?
Could we see bigger DEs drafted this year. I'm left pounding the changes that will be made.

In FE it is Baltimore's Kruger by a mile
In the draft... I don't see anyone dropping to us easily but I like
Moore out of Texas A&M good size moves really well. Needs muscle
Ezekiel Ansah BYU tall and good body reminds me of Clem in a lot of ways

Dan Quinn Saying we'll see more blitzing doesn't mean we're moving to a 3-4. This post doesn't make a whole lot of sense...
This is Pete Carroll's defensive philosophy, not Dan Quinn. Pete has always run this 4-3 3-4 hybrid with an Elephant/LEO and 3 stand up LBs.

I think Quinn will blitz more often from CB, S, and LB, but will just mix it up. I promise you Bruce Irvin is not moving to OLB though.

I agree, the 4-3 under with LEO is the base defense, more blitzing from the LB position just has to do with play calling. Much the way Bradley was using Pete's scheme but calling the defense play to play and changing formation on down and distance.

We didn't blitz too much from the LB position so I'm really interested to see who they use to fill that blitzing LB specialist or if they have a base player in mind to handle read/react blitzing. They seem to like Winston Guy for this but maybe this changes with a new WIL or Smith and Kam flip responsibilities on certain downs or situations.

This is a 4-3 under, drenched in Carroll's upbringing and philosophy. There won't be any sweeping changes.

"We'll be aggressive; we'll be attacking; we'll be hard to deal with."

It doesn't say they will blitz more but if you watch his style at Florida, he is less conservative then Bradley. So, he didn't outright say it, but that's kind of what he alluded to.

I can't say I'm not excited about the prospect of being a bit more aggressive, especially with our 'backers.

Honestly, my hope for the last few months has been that Jarvis Jones' health issues scare teams off to the point that he falls to us. Bump KJ to Mike and Bobby to Will, and you've got a really dynamic LB group. I know it seems like a risky idea to start moving around guys who've done so well, so early in their careers, but the thought of adding a pass rusher like that to he strong side is pretty intriguing to me. Obviously the health issues are a concern, but at 25 I'd be willing to gamble on it, especially if we can add a more active 3-tech in FA. Just a thought I've had for a while, but Jones will probably end up going top 10 despite the spinal issues anyways.

Juan Marie Castille, people! Lets stop moving our best players around and start building around them.

For all the talk about flexibility of scheme, the reality is that Pete has run the same defense pretty much his whole life. Big LDE, small LEO, big linebacker at SSLB, speedy little guy at WSLB . . . The only change has come in the secondary, and that has more to do with Earl's range than anything. It's not changing anytime soon.

Personnel will remain much the same . . . What we do with them will change.

If we draft Jones it will be as a LEO.

The Seattle Seahawks are expected to blitz more under defensive coordinator Dan Quinn in order to create more pass rush.

Definitely not going to see any sweeping changes to the core philosophy, but I'd welcome bringing a little more heat on occasion. We've got come fantastic athletes in the secondary and the LB corps that can get into the backfield. Bobby Wagner is a ballistic missile, if used correctly he could wreak some havoc.
