Great NCAA Forum minds, and anyone else, tell me what you think of Dawgs vs Stanford?

I have no feel for Stanford other than they just kind of STILL seem to play like a Harbaugh-coached team.

First of all, thank you for acknowledging my great mind. It's about time I get some respect around here.

As I told you in PM the other day I think Keith Price is going to have to play the game of his life if the Huskies are going to have a chance. I think against Stanford you have to use the short passing game to set up the run, rather then vice versa. I can't imagine Sankey having a ton of success in this game. I'm not sure the Huskies o'line is going to hold up against Stanfords front 7 defensively. I know the Doog fans will say, "yea, but we beat them last year" but last year Stanford had a clown playing QB in that game, Hogan is pretty damn good and makes their offense much more complete.

I think Stanford wins something like 34-20 (wish Washington scoring a late touchdown.)

It's amazing how many carries Dawg RB's get under Sark, speaking of Sankey. And, its a traditional rushing attack, even now. That's why I feel he's a pro-coach, btw.

I throw out last years game, entirely different scenario.

You got a prediction for this one?

Boy, I really want to say Sark gets his pinnacle win. Which leads to a BCS bowl and an eventual pro gig (I think he's staying at UDub until he gets a BCS....i.e. job complete). I have ZERO confidence in it, but the homer in me says 31-17 Dawgs.

With Dawgs getting late TD, we agree there.

I'd actually like to see UW get the win. (As long as they lose next weekend to the Ducks). I enjoy their style of play and enjoy watching them. Offense is fun to watch and defensively they bring the hammer. One thing I've noticed about them this year, even when they give up completions their DB's are always right there to make the tackle right away.

Would be kind of cool if UW wins this weekend, Oregon knocks off UW next weekend and both run the table the rest of the season. If that scenario played out it would probably be Oregon in the national championship game and Washington in the Rose Bowl.

It would just be a GREAT thing for the Pac-12 if the Dawgs vs. Ducks were both undefeated next week. It would be outstanding.

Lets not forget about Oregon and the Buffa...err...bwahahah...I couldn't do it with a straight face.

I think Stanford wins the game, but I could really see UW giving them a run. I don't think Stanford has the running game that its had in previous years and UW has a real stout front seven. I think Stanford will be able to throw the ball down the field off play action. They finally have a deep threat this year. Stanford executes everything perfectly, one misstep, one poor gap fill, one slight moment of hesitation and they will burn you.

I don't think UW will have a great deal of success running the ball, their o line is still soft with their pad level and most of the yardage is scheme and Sankey being a beast. Stanford's front seven is amazing, they flow downhill, stay in their gaps and are smart and tough. Watching them against the WSU offensive line last week was a sobering experience(literally). If they are susceptible, its down the field. WSU stretched out their coverage downfield, hit a few passes and missed on some real opportunities, UW has better speed and better athletes at the WR position. They will have guys flashing open downfield, Price has to get the ball there.


The thing with Price has always been that he struggles against secondaries with great speed. Thats why Oregon always gives him trouble. He doesn't have the arm or the anticipation to squeeze the ball through tight windows. I think that will be an issue next week rather than this week. I think he will be ok tomorrow.

Hoping the Huskies win, but I think they will come up short, looking forward to a great game.

I think college ball is more interesting, such a variance of schemes, love the NFL though.

From my perspective here are the keys to the game for the Dawgs:

1. Which Keith Price do we get? If its 2011/2013 Keith Price, then Stanford's D has to play lights out and error free to win. If we get 2012 Keith Price... well, its going to be a painful night of football to watch.
2. How does Sankey do against the Stanford Offensive Line? If he runs for 150 yds or more, its going to be tough for Stanford to win this one.
3. Does ASJ get involved in the offense and make some big plays or do we get another week of flat ASJ? If he is able to play like he is capable of and makes monster plays for Washington, the rest of the O can feed off of this, get Price better matchups down the field, and give Kasen and our other WR's more opportunities to impact the game.

I say Washington upsets Stanford. But of course, that is a complete homer call.

One of the Stanford players that is intriguing to me and who kind of came out of nowhere is (WR) Devon Cajuste. Cajuste is 6-4 230 lbs and as of lately has been a bit of a playmaker. He wears #89 and it will be interesting to see how he does against Washington's defense.

College Ball is a great sport. I would almost rather watch it than primadonna sport that we like so much now. I see the same thing in Basketball. I dont watch basketball pro no more. But when the March madness comes, I am liking it a LOT. It is a lot like chess in a changing forum. You play your moves and they counter and whomsoever chose correctly wins. Good Day to you All. Den
