Actually, it's not about Garoppolo, but about the small school he played for, Eastern Illinois. Not exactly an NFL powerhouse school, but did you know:

Tony Romo played QB at Eastern Illinois.

Mike Shanahan played QB at Eastern Illinois.

Sean Payton played QB at Eastern Illinois.
