its just my opinion but with the way the last qtr or so of the schedule is laid out we will need some extra beef up the middle to hold the line. I like the jesse williams and tony McDaniel but both have a history with injuries and we can't be thin in the middle when it counts the most. I was opposed to a Daniel McCullers type player but we will need a big man in their to wear on the NFC west opponents in the last qtr of the schedule to help secure home field advantage.

I think it would be wise to select either Daniel McCullers or DeAndre Coleman in the middle rounds both have girth and length to do what Seattle likes along the D-line. Collapsing gaps and constricting the pocket is essential to what Seattle likes to do with the Defense.

McCullers is way too slow off the ball; I don't see him having much more upside than Dewayne Cherrington.

The way thing that really stands out about Seahawks' defensive linemen is their quickness off the ball. Look at these 10-yard splits:

Brandon Mebane: 1.71
Greg Scruggs: 1.71
Red Bryant (released): 1.66
Michael Bennett: 1.62
Cliff Avril: 1.50

Other notable 10-yard splits:
Aaron Donald (6'1, 285)- 1.63
Caraun Reid (6'2, 300)- 1.65
Kony Ealy (6'4, 275)- 1.69
Ego Ferguson (6'3, 315)- 1.72
Timmy Jernigan (6'2, 300)- 1.73
DeAndre Coleman (6'5, 315)- 1.73
L.T. Tuipulotu (6'1, 305)- 1.75
Beau Allen (6'3, 325)- 1.75
Kerry Hyder (6'2, 285)- 1.76

A 1.72 10-yard split at 326 lbs is pretty ridiculous. Plays with a low center of gravity and uses his hands well. He's very Mebane-like. Maybe a 5th rounder?

Dan Quinn was at Timmy Jernigan's Pro Day. Another DT who is very quick off the ball for his size and plays with very active hands.

He also visited with a few LEO prospects: Marcus Smith, Demarcus Lawrence, and Ndiaye El Hadji.

DONT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON ''ELHADJI NDIAYE''!!! That man's a BEAST!, hope we get him in the 5-6 Round . i hope we also trade out of our 32nd pick or 64th pick to obtain multiple 4-7 draft picks we need Depth! i really dont see a must have a 32 :/ ? i just dont see it. and to me IMHO this pre-draft status we are currently sitting at reminds me alot of 2011 where we had no 3rd rounder and JS was pissed at that so he tried trading out of 25th in 2011 but couldnt until the 2nd round multiple pick trade happen with Detroit.

Seems like the Damn Falcons have a ragging hard on for him tho! :? so i hope we can beat them to the punch in the later rounds...he would be good at the 5-or 7tech in which DE Red Bryant thrived so well in!

I think Scruggs, McDaniel, and Williams are our base 5-tech and 3-tech's if Seattle try's to go with what worked last year and all missed significant time last year because of injury. Body shots with the bigs on early downs and hit them with speed on the money down or passing situations. It wore teams out last year and length played a big part of the equation IMO. Big Red and Tony M. mass, power, and length collapses the pocket forcing TE or O-lineman back into the play and wearing them out for the fourth Qtr. So I think Seattle should look to cover its ace by drafting a big man(315-330) with length(6'5-6'7) instead of relying on a bunch of tough nose guards if we are hit by injuries in the important NFC West late season match ups.

Pete's initial reaction was that Tony McDaniel would fill the role vacated by Red Bryant. Kevin Williams could help fill that role if they can't fill it via the draft, which is always somewhat of a crap shoot.

There aren't a lot of big guys with length who can move and take on a double teams in this draft. Ra'Shede Hageman, Stephon Tuitt, and Deandre Coleman are possible options, but their tape does not match their measurables.

I have seen DraftTek project us to go after Caraun Reid and Zach Kerr. I like Reid because our defense is noted for its smarts and on-field communication, and the guy went to Princeton.
