With just over a month to go til the 2014 college football season kicks off (the first FBS game is 8/28), lets spend a minute or two to project which Pac 12 teams will go bowling and where. The bowl tie-ins for the Pac 12 are below.

#1: Rose Bowl/College Football Playoff
#2: Alamo Bowl (vs. Big 12 #2)
#3: Holiday Bowl (vs. Big Ten #2-4)
#4: Fight Hunger Bowl (vs. Big Ten #5-7)
#5: Sun Bowl (vs. ACC #4)
#6: Las Vegas Bowl (vs. Mountain West #1)
#7: Cactus Bowl (vs. Big 12 #6)

Hawk, the #1 team in the Pac 12 is guaranteed a spot in the Rose Bowl or, in the years where the Rose hosts a playoff semifinal, one of the other six "premier bowls" in the Playoff group. So your prediction of "no one" is an impossibility.

Oh right . . . so UCLA would make the Cotton Bowl? Rose Bowl is a semifinal game this year.

As long as Mariota stays healthy I think the Ducks will be in the playoffs. I think Stanford takes a step back this year after losing key defensive players, coaches and their running back (although i'm excited to watching Barry Sanders jr).

#1: Rose Bowl/College Football Playoff: Oregon
#2: Alamo Bowl (vs. Big 12 #2): UCLA
#3: Holiday Bowl (vs. Big Ten #2-4) Arizona State
#4: Fight Hunger Bowl (vs. Big Ten #5-7) USC
#5: Sun Bowl (vs. ACC #4) Stanford
#6: Las Vegas Bowl (vs. Mountain West #1) Washington
#7: Cactus Bowl (vs. Big 12 #6) Arizona

I also think Oregon State, Utah and Washington State all have a chance to be bowl eligible.

I know Mariota was hurt, but I wasn't impressed by how they handled losing to Stanford. Would that Arizona game have happened under Chip Kelly? I don't think so. I have my doubts on Helfrich as a leader. Given their talent will that matter this year? Maybe not.

WSU has the distinct possibility of being a much improved, more talented and more competitive team, and see virtually no change to their win/loss record.

Completely agree. I expect that the Cougs will be better on offense, worse on defense, and end up 6-6 again. Like UW, they have some what should be easy wins on their schedule, inlcuding Rutgers, Nevada, Portland State, and Cal. Grabbing two more wins from Utah, Arizona, USC, Oregon State, and UW should be quite possible. Stanford maybe too, if they really step back like some are expecting ( I don't think they will.)

Oregon at home will be tough, and the Cougs traditionally get beaten soundly in Tempe, so those are probably automatic L's this year.

I'm worried teams will just 3 yards and cloud of dust the Ducks this year. I was not happy with Helfrich last year, but I'm willing to give him another chance.

Keeping my expectations low, however.

Boy, I wasn't really close at all. I did guess 6/8 of the bowl teams, though.

Rose Bowl: yes
Alamo Bowl: yes
Holiday Bowl: no
Foster Farms Bowl (formerly Fight Hunger Bowl): no
Sun Bowl: no
Las Vegas Bowl: no
Cactus Bowl: no
