Do Kearse and Lane even have trade value? I keep seeing their names in these o line threads. Their contracts suck for their skill level and they do not play positions with a general dearth of talent. Better players/value will be available at cut down.

Trading Graham, ok. That is fair, we could get something for him.

A look at the Draft Trade Value Chart reveals that the difference between a late 5th round pick and a late 7th round pick is a measly 20 trade value points.

So Matt Tobin, an experienced lineman obtained prior to the 3rd preseason game, cost John Schneider only 20 trade value points in 2018. I'd call that a buy. Looking ahead to 2018, John will likely guide the team thru adding 10 or more rookies via the draft plus priority free agents in the immediate hours after the conclusion of that draft.

I'm glad John is handling player acquisitions. He not going to sit on his hands and talk about next year over only 20 trade value points.

Always Compete!

This guy is a quintessential Cable lineman. Bad at multiple positions but is condsidered to have value due to versatility. Maybe Cable is bad at math? Maybe he is unaware of no matter how big a number gets if you multiply it by zero it is always zero.

Ouch.

Seems like there's a decent chance a comparable player would have been available after roster cut-downs.
It's a gamble, what happens if there's not anybody better.

I'm glad they made the move.
Not very optimistic but happy they recognize something needs to be done.

I think the reality is that unless they're willing to part with a key figure, this is about the best they're going to receive in a trade. No team is willing to part with an actual quality lineman.

It is what it is, more mediocre competition at best.

Maybe a little A-1 will make that hamburger a little more palatable.

Giving up draft choices for longshots is just plain silly.....and desperate.

From Rotoworld.....

How the heck can you complain about them using every avenue available? Madness.

Umm....well.....you see...I used a Microsoft keyboard on a PC.

Hitting draft picks is crutial to this team (more than others with lower cost core groups). Those pics keep the team cap down when they get starters / contributors.

So as long as we are trying "every avenue", the sky is the limit for you to give away then?

Having a hard time understanding what you are asking here...

I said all along that yes, go for it...just that a 5th round choice is too much.

You referred to that as "madness" they are trying "every avenue".

Do you have no limits on this trade? Would you trade a 1st for him?

What's the opinion on him? He replaces Senior right? If so I expect very little from this guy but who knows he might be good in the ZBS.

We didn't "trade" a draft pick, but rather swapped picks for the right to bring in Tobin.

Not to rain on everybodya pity party bit I'll just leave this here.
That's an encouraging video how he handled Allen like that. Everywhere else seems to give the impression he's garbage.

"Across from him, an injury to Andrew Gardner forced Matt Tobin into the lineup. Tobin recorded the worst pass protection grade we’ve ever given to an OG (since 2007). He finished with a 30.9 grade (1–100 scale) in that facet of play, giving up eight sacks, 11 hits, and 31 hurries."
- PFF

"This trade comes as a surprise because ... who knew Tobin had any trade value? It’s only a swap of late round picks, but still! Not a bad deal by Howie Roseman to get value for someone who wasn’t even a lock to make the Eagles’ final roster.

Tobin has been a backup at offensive tackle and guard ever since signing with the Eagles as an undrafted free agent in 2013. He’s not an ideal starter but he’s an experienced backup."

WE don't know what we lose with our draft picks,
but,
we do know what we got with it.

Yuck.
