Rumors are he is also one of the main locker room snipers against certain other players including the one who happens to have the biggest contract.

.

This is the type of comment that should include a link to a source.

It may be true but without proof it's nothing more than you speculating or spreading the "rumors".
Not the first time that this has been pointed out to you.

Rumors support half of the internet, the half not supported by porn.

I've lurked this forum for years, and signed up some years ago but rarely post.

This is some real ignorant stuff out here today.

Clark and Avril jump offsides too, it's a style we have and has paid dividends when things are working.

They are timing the snap and when it works, it's awesome and gives an advantage...when it doesn't, it's a penalty. It's been this way for years.

Stuff is not working right now. But lack of effort or even being effective should not be pointed at Bennett.

If you've ever watched Seahawks football you would know that even in our best years September was scrape-by to garbage games. Not saying we will pull out of like we have in the past, maybe this year we don't, but calling for our best and dedicated players heads? Go root for laundry like the Pats...it is more successful and I suspect certain people here would rather root for Brady anyway. just pull the trigger. no one will miss you.

Bennett still plays at a decently high level, has never bashed Russ and I'm not even going to pretend why some of you simpletons are singling him out.

I

I hope you're right, but this defense has looked older and older with each passing game.

When in the history of the NFL has there been a dominant old defense that can sustain that level all year and into the playoffs?

This dude gets it.

Bennett is having one of the best starts to the year of his career. I heard people saying he looked slow in TC and not as fired up. Which he did.

Turns out he saved it up for the season. And he's balling out.

He was the best Dlineman today

When your D-line was on the field for 65% of the time, and had zero sacks and only had 3 pressures..............no one was the "best" anything.

This D-line is far too talented to not do better than that.

Y'all must be watching a different game than I am. Bennett, Richardson, Avril, and Clark have been absolutely beasting it this year. Chancellor has been doing very well in his newish role of shading toward the SLB and freeing up Thomas to attack at the line of scrimmage more. Even if the numbers aren't there because teams are scheming to get the ball out, the front seven have been absolutely dominant until they get gassed because the offense can't keep them off the field. This is probably the best defense the Hawks have ever fielded. If the offense will just give them a chance, they will run away with both the scoring and yardage titles, unfortunately, it doesn't appear they will be afforded the opportunity by this offense.

Bennett has 6 TFLs this season - more than all but two players in the league, and 2.5 sacks - good for 16th. He even has a pass defended to top it off.

What kind of unrealistic expectations have you got for him?

For many years Michael has been a very good player for us however I believe he is now on the downside of his career. How many times can he jump offsides and in key situations?

He's been doing that for years already. It's not a new development. Aaron Rodgers usually gets him two or three times a game.

Bennett is pretty much brainless in this regard. Last year in the pro bowl he did this 3 plays in a row before the coach had enough and pulled him out of the game. Pete smiles and pats him on the back, so expect many more to follow.

Given the fact that Bennett, Avril and Clark have all been caught out doing it, it's clearly something that's both coached and encouraged.

We've been caught out 6 times in 189 defensive snaps (around 3% of the time), I suspect it's still 6 times more than the coaches would prefer, but that the advantage gained on the times where they get it right outweights the occasional disruption (e.g. 4 consecutive 3 and outs for the defense to start the game).

Granted, I can recall at least one third down converted by defensive offside penalty against the Titans, but had the offense managed to do something in the 4 possessions after the defense had taken the Titans off the field, maybe the defense would have been sharper in the 2nd-4th quarters - less offsides and less big gains too.

I don't like the offsides, but did no one else notice he was a beast tackling people behind the line of scrimmage? Bennet is not a player we need to trade.

Nope, you take the off sides when the guy produces like he does. Shoot, Cliff has had a couple recently, and Clark had a couple in the Niners game.

Can someone explain the Bennett offside penalty to me? He was in a 3-point stance, with his hand outside the nuetral zone.

He started forward before the snap, but his hand didn't leave the ground (outside neutral zone) before the snap. It was called offside and not neutral zone infraction, so it isn't that he got the o-line to flinch.

His head and shoulders were in the neutral zone, but I thought that is permissible as long as the feet and hands remain outside the neutral zone. Perhaps I am wrong. Certainly wouldn't be the first time.

No that is not permissible. No body part can break the plane of the ball.

There is an entire thread about ONE penalty in a game where he was otherwise great. :2thumbs:

This... Its a risk-reward game they're playing... And more often than not, it's reward. Timing the count is part of it.

Mike B played 88% of the snaps, by far the most on the DL. He also had 3 TFL. I don't care how bad the DL performance was, he did the best out of the lot.
