Why fly across the country for a broken finger? Are there no doctors in Seattle? He needs to be around the team learning everything he can.

The Lynch curse. We just cannot stay healthy at the RB position since he left. Would be curious to see what free agent options come up once cuts start.

You can't make this stuff up. I've had it with the RB injuries. He really could've used game time reps. This seriously stunts his growth.

RB curse or first rounder curse? I am starting to see why Schneids prefers to trade out of the first round all the time.

Here is to hoping for a speedy recovery but like someone else said, I would prefer caution even if he misses some regular season games. No doubt we will need reinforcements at the position as the season progresses.

Go Hawks!!!

Are we to the point that we call these things the "Curse of Marshawn Lynch"? Payback for not running the ball at the end of SB49?

Curse? Just stop. It's a broken finger, he'll be fine. Pretty soon, he'll be called injury prone

Glass fingers?

Agreed. Might be some ok filler. Prosise and his eventual move to IR should open a spot.

It's an injury to a finger, it happens all the time. There are no curses.
As far as CJ goes, enough is enough with this guy. Sucks because he is a damn good player when he actually is on the field. He could make a big contribution. But he's rarely available and likely wont be :(
He makes Mr. Glass Deion Branch seem like a healthy player.

It’s a finger. It’s 3-4 weeks. He will be fine. The RB position will be fine.

A curse would be what happened to Guice.

A broken finger happens all the time. But you need the guy holding the ball to keep hold of it. So yes, we need him to get the surgery and get healing. Taping up his fingers like a lineman won't work because he has to carry and catch the football.

It could be a lot worse.

If this is the big injury we get for the season, I will gladly take it.

Often times what we call a broken "hand" is in actuality a broken finger. The bones extending from the fingers into the hand are actually "finger". My son broke same mid season in HS and he was out the rest of the season. He was a LB at the time. Of course we didn't fly to Pennsylvania to a specialist for the surgery either. I suspect Penny's surgeon has a particular set of skills.

We just seem to have bad luck at the RB position lately.

The understatement of the year.

Our bad luck with RB's since Lynch has been beyond ridiculous. Are the Football Gods making us pay up for all the success we enjoyed with Lynch?

Look around the league, very few durable bell cow backs...........that's why when you have one like Lynch you hold onto him like grim death, and we did.

It's also why it's a BIG risk to draft a RB in the first round, because the chance of him being worth the high pick is diminished by risk of injury.

Having said all this, 3-4 weeks isn't the end of the world. Penny wasn't ahead of Carson anyway, and the combo of Davis and McKissic should spell Carson nicely until Penny's back and hopefully ready to roll by week 1 or 2.

[Schefter] Seahawks’ RB Rashaad Penny is undergoing hand surgery this morning, as @bcondotta said. It is the same surgery baseball standout Robinson Cano once had and he was full go within three weeks. Similarly, Penny “should be ready by Week 1,” source texted this am

Let's go surgeon lets go
