We had 20 3rd down opportunities and converted 8. I did include the 2 3rd down penalties, but not the kneel down at the end of the game.

3rd and 2 Converted
3rd and 5 Yes
3rd and 8 No
3rd and 7 No
3rd and 2 Yes
3rd and 13 No
3rd and 8 Yes
3rd and 7 No
3rd and 5 Yes
3rd and 8 No
3rd and 7 Penalty
3rd and 12 Penalty
3rd and 17 No
3rd and 3 Yes
3rd and 12 No
3rd and 10 Yes
3rd and 14 No
3rd and 1 Yes
3rd and 13 No

Not surprising when it's 3rd and 5 or less we convert at a high rate. Perhaps our 3rd down problem is really a first and second down problem. What is considered a good 3rd down conversion rate?

Was hoping I'd at least get someone posting that listing our 3rd downs with zero analysis was as much of a waste as the space between my ears.

Based on the info at the link below, converting 3rd downs is definitely an area for improvement.

I think cleaning up penalties will help a lot, and doing so will be mitigated somewhat by getting a consistent, healthy o-line back. Hard to get guys on the same page when the personnel keeps shifting.

Here's the link: http://espn.go.com/nfl/statistics/team/ ... ownConvPct

I was going to post that 45% is pretty good goal to shoot for, then looked at scsis's link and had this thought:

When Carolina and STL are converting more 3rd downs than you are, that's a pretty bad thing. Look at the teams below us, and most are considered pretty bad teams.

Not surprising, the two top teams in the NFL are good run teams, and the next 3 have great passing games, opening up the shorter stuff on 3rd downs.
