We should continue to run the ball about 60% of the time

Until other teams can prove they can stop our dominant rushing attack we should gameplan more games like this where we go all "college style" and just run down teams throats with Lynch (Mainly) and also Wilson, Turbin and Michael. In no game this year has any team been able shut down our running game completely; in the San Diego and Dallas losses our YPC were fine we just abandoned the run. In the STL game we ran alright but really the main issue in that game was our special teams giving up 2 huge returns.

Right Now here are our ranks in the NFL in Rushing Offense

Yards- 1,538 (1st)
YPC- 5.5 (1st)
Touchdowns- 14 (1st)
Rushing Lost Fumbles- 1 (T. 4th)

I really see no downside to going about 60% Run and 40% Pass. With Wilson struggling the last 3 games this should eventually help take pressure off of him and he should improve. The only obvious exception to this would be if we were to fall way behind (more than 14 points down). Then the run could be abandoned obviously.

especially against KC's porous run defense, piling up rushing yards might be our only shot to win next week

It sounds like a good idea in principle, but bear in mind that 15 of our last 19 plays (excluding the two kneel downs) were rushes, that's the kind of thing that massively inflates "rush/pass" %age.

Now, when you're tied or within 7 points and your defense is suffocating everything, it makes total sense. When you need to get back into the game and you chew up 5 minutes of clock on a 30 yard drive and then punt, only for the other team to do the exact same it's not the best strategy.

It's not like we're going to set a franchise record for rushing yards every week if we choose to run the ball more.

The voice of reason.... :179417:

Can't just say run and expect run, there's so much things going on with situational football. One simple correlation...less penalties on the O = more running yardage. All those big plays Lynch usually gets get called back for, didn't get called back. Instead of having to pass on 1st&20 because of a hold, now you can run on 1st&10. Gotta stay on schedule as they say.

Nail on the head.

I can remember at least 2 runs from every single game that were 10+ yards called back because of a hold, or hands to the face, or some other reason for the ref to pull out his hanky and blow his schnoz.

Not seeing the yellow was the biggest factor for our running game...

...That, and NY apparently has never seen the Read Option.

Supposedly....NY's pass defense was giving up big plays, so what did we do?

Run it right down their throats. Our shiny new FB gives us 2 Beasts in the backfield....

Hey, I like that....2 Beasts in the backfield, could also be a separate shack topic.
