1984: The Seahawks officially retired No. 12 to honor their fans. The ceremony takes place during their regular-season finale against the Denver Broncos at the Kingdome (see gameday sheet below). The Seahawks are the first professional sports franchise to retire a jersey as a tribute to their fans. The Seahawks lose 31-14 to finish 12-4, despite Dave Krieg passing for 334 yards and two touchdowns and the defense intercepting John Elway four times.

According to the Denialzone the Seattle Seahawks and fansbase didn't exist until 2012, it's on the Internet so it must be true. 8)
