Which stats matter?
Number of TDs?
Number of 300 yards games?
Number of passes over 30 yards?

Wins are a team stat. He doesn't do it himself.

I thought this was common knowledge.

Sure, tell that to the Cardinals.

And now think about all the games we wouldn't have won without him playing...

The team that just lost even though their QB threw 2 TDs and got to 11 wins with garbage under center? That's your counterpoint?

There is no question we are better with Wilson. None. There is, however, no good reason to deny my point which was to show that the feat is still impressive in spite of the category. Not difficult.

Most important thing about that stat?

Games won = games NOT lost.

It's probably one of the most underappreciated stats imo

Yeah that record should stand for a while.

NOBODY will break that record EVER. It is pretty much impossible...especially when he makes it 43 wins in his first 3 seasons and 2 superbowl rings :D

Which if he does btw..would be 14 games per season including playoffs average..which is INSANE..should have one more win against the Falcons too if it wasnt for our freaking D choking

Another counter argument would be that Andrew Luck is close to Wilson in wins, despite producing a mountain of turnovers on bad teams in historically bad divisions.

At least with Wilson, he's done it playing one of the league's toughest schedules all three years.

That one is in my favor because if Luck had a defense like ours, we'd be denigrating his success for those reasons. And they would stick.

Again, though, Wilson's success is awesome. Leader of a dynasty in the making.

The 49ers have arguably been the best team in the NFL Wilsons first 2 years in the league so he had to go against that...NFC W prob one of if not the best division the last 3 years too.

Lucks stats against his own division

2014
124/190 65% 1,573 yards 14TD 3INT 108.9 rating
Before todays game

2013
124/212 58.5% 1,422 yards 8TD 3INT 85.5 rating

2012
109/199 54.8% 1,410yards 8TD 5INT 80.2 rating

In the 30 other games regular season he has 56TD and 32INT
If you count playoffs it goes to 64TD and 40INT.

I get what you are saying but ultimately the other stats don't matter much, if you ain't winning football games, right?

Yup I get what you're saying, a win is a team thing. Every teammate matters.

But the QB is the most important and is justifiably identified with the Wins and Losses.

* To win, you have to score points, and that is predominantly going to be the offense.

* Only one player touches the ball on every offensive possession, that's the QB

* That also means one player has to decide what the O will run once pre-snap reads are done and also post-snap making all the decisions, that's the QB

The QB is the most important position on the offense, and arguably the whole team, and so he rightly can be associated the team record, both wins and losses. I have no problem with giving Russell props on the success of the wins and losses.

A stellar defense matters, and I would agree that the defense as a whole is the most important team factor, but without Russell @ QB on offense, we aren't an SB team and SB contender.
