2nd and goal from the one with a D stacked against the run -- the OC has input, but the HC makes the ultimate decision AND PC has said that he made the call.

I know the anti-Bevell brigade will refuse to accept what PC has said and bellow for Bevell's firing, but facts are facts.

Sorry, you are dead wrong!
PC was throwing himself under the bus.....
This was all on Bevell whether you want to accept it or not.

While Bevell was busy throwing his player under the bus.

Meanwhile the players, the ones that know better, are openly mocking Bevell on the way to the locker room.

Maybe Pete took the blame, but his players blame his OC.

Pete took the blame... as did Bevell who tweeted "I CALL THE PLAYS".

Bevell made the call.

He DID take the blame -- no "maybe's" about it.
Who called 11 personnel from the gun at the half yard line?

Pete took the blame because he's in charge but Bevell called it plain and simple

At that point in the game it is a Head Coach decision.

First...the decision to throw a pass play on 2nd down and goal on the 2 with 26 seconds left was sound. It was good clock management. It guarantees you get all three attempts at goal if you need them. If you run on 2nd down you might get stuck with only two attempts.

Secondly, the decision would have been collaborative - Bevell may have been the one driving the decision but Pete ultimately has final say. That said the decision to pass was a sound decision and would have had to have cleared Pete. To suggest that Bevell did this on his own is naïve.

The choice of pass play is on Bevell. Don't mix up the responsibilities though - the decision to pass is on Pete ultimately, but the decision on the final play is on Bevell.
