After the late INT that pretty much ended the game, were the Patriots planning on taking a safety at the one foot line?

That would have left 26ish seconds for the Seahawks to get in fg range.

If not for the encroachment on Bennett it would have been interesting to see what would have happened.

Don't know, but it was another of Bill's traps.

Watch the center before the encroachment. He bounces his head like he's going to hike, in order to get the jump. Pretty sure that was the plan. Don't risk a handoff or safety. Just sucker them offsides.

The end of the game was just a total disaster in every fashion. From the awful play call, to execution on the awful play call, to committing a bonehead offsides penalty, to fighting the Patriots and looking like sore losers..

Was just.. the worst possible ending to a Super Bowl you could think of.

Yep and it was bloody obvious and should have been a penalty against New England (false start). That almost certainly would have almost surely guaranteed a safety. Not sure that the 'hawks could have gotten in FG range in less than 20 seconds after the free kick but it would have been an epic ending.....
