Pretty obvious he was going to sign, but great that it's now done and we can move on before free agency. I think there was probably a deadline and he went right up to the end of it.

Now we can focus on building on what we already have instead of retooling.

I was hoping the deal would be for more than just one year so we wouldn't have to go through this again next off season if he's still wanting to play. But happy to have him back regardless.

SO this counts as only $1 million against the cap?

Not if it's a one year deal. it would mean he gets signing bonus up front rather than wait for 16 installments on game days.

The one-year deal is worth $11 million, including a $1 million base salary, a $9 million signing bonus and a $1 million roster bonus, a source told ESPN's John Clayton.

Interesting, most people thought it'd be a two year deal with most of the guaranteed money in the first year.

Does this mean Lynch has pretty much told John and Pete he's done after this year?

More like it prevents the will he or won't he aspect of his future. Forces the FO to plan ahead regardless.

Which is probably the best avenue for the team. Regardless if he wants to return next year they need to find his replacement now. I bet we finally see Michael get some carries and also draft a back.

Well his current deal ran through the end of the year.. so I'd imagine a one-year extension really just pays him for 2015 and leaves open the door for 2016 if he so chooses

Or maybe I'm way off. Who knows.
