Just saw on NFL network. They were talking about Suh's guaranteed and Billick said he is hearing Wilson will get 120. No other details.

Agreed, that would be a scary deal to take on.

Either Wilson will get a $120M contract or he'll get a $50M fully guaranteed contract. It'll be one or the other. He has to be joking.

The conversation was around Suh making elite QB money and if he was worth it. Billick said that It won't be elite QB money because he is hearing Wilson will get 120 guarenteed. If that is true, I wonder what Luck will get...

LOL. If you think Wilson is signing for anywhere around 50 million, guaranteed or not, you are thinking crazy.

If Billick is close, we're probably looking at a 6-7 year contract. The guarantees (whatever they are) will discount the yearly value from 23-24 million to around 20 million, but its not going any lower than that.

At least it's not my money I'm spending.

I just don't see how Wilson gets $120M FULLY GUARANTEED. Fully guaranteed? 120M fully guaranteed money? Don't forget Schneider also has to re-sign Wagner... Fully guaranteed just blows my mind.

I understand $50M or $60M or even $70M fully guaranteed, but come on, you and I both know $120M fully guaranteed is NOT happening. I just cannot see how Schneider can get Wilson signed to that amount of money + Lynch + Wagner's contract. Wagner will get at least half of Wilson's contract.

Come on, $120M is just an absurd amount of fully guaranteed money. I mean think about it, 5 year deal? That's $24M a year guaranteed? Who knows what Wagner's deal with me.

Sorry if I sound like I'm exaggerating, but that is an insane amount of fully guaranteed money.

:13: Billick don't know dick about the money side. He's moderately good at the X's & O's, but on contract stuff, we might as well qoute the barber at NFL headquarters. Actually, the barber probably knows more. ;)

He may have guaranteed Wilson gets 120 million, 120 million guaranteed is way different. I'm going to assume that Billick misspoke and is using the terms incorrectly.

As a franchise QB Wilson is pretty much "guaranteed" to get the full value of his contract. But 120 Million guaranteed is twice the guaranteed money to any QB playing is contracted to earn.

Here are the top QB earners based on average money per year:

Aaron Rodgers: Total Value $110,000,000; Guaranteed $54,000,000
Matt Ryan: Total Value $103,750,000; Guaranteed $42,000,000
Joe Flacco: Total Value $120,600,000; Guaranteed $29,000,000
Drew Brees: Total Value $100,000,000; Guaranteed $40,000,000
Peyton Manning: Total Value $96,000,000; Guaranteed $18,000,000
Colin Kaepernick: Total Value $114,000,000; Guaranteed $12,973,766
Jay Cutler: Total Value $126,700,000; Guaranteed $38,000,000
Tony Romo: Total Value $108,000,000; Guaranteed $40,000,000
Matt Stafford: Total Value $53,000,000; Guaranteed $41,500,000
Alex Smith: Total Value $68,000,000; Guaranteed $19,000,000

In his defense, Billick literally wrote the book on the West Coast Offense according to Bill Walsh.

Yes, he knows X's and O's.

I agree it sounds crazy, but if Suh is getting 60 mil, what is Wilson worth? If these QB's were FA now, the market would go through the roof. I think that is why he was saying it. I hope he misspoke as well.

Put it this way, is Andew Luck worth twice as much guaranteed money as the the most recent QB to set the record?

Short and long answer?, NO.
Billick likely misspoke, and meant to say that -HE guaranteed- that Wilson will get 120 M., not A guaranteed 120 M.

That is the most reasonable explanation.

Well that is certainly outside the box gentlemen. I did read an article or two that his contract was going to pave the way to fully guaranteed contracts in the NFL. I don't know how it would work but it must be capable to make it incredibly cap/team friendly if that's the direction the Seahawks are going. Or if it's even possible to do something like that.

I expect RW to get a 6 yr $120M contract with approximately half guaranteed and most of that paid as a signing bonus.

When Aaron Rodgers got his most recent contract, it contained approx 54 million in guarantees. That was two years ago.
Suggesting Wilson would get 120 million guaranteed isn't thinking outside the box, it's reinventing the wheel.
