Everyone forgets about Marsh but he was an above average guy coming into the draft. His knock last year was his over aggressiveness and his ability to channel that during the season. I will be excited to see what he can do for us. If were lucky he can do at the DE position what Jordan Hill did at the DT position in his soph. year.

Skies are bright for us and we have guys we can look at to reload not rebuild.... the Defensive line of course :th2thumbs:

I need to see Marsh causing havoc in real games before I think of him as anything more than an overhyped, under-productive prospect who didn't fall flat on his face. Still, he is at least an interesting player, the kind that is worth watching closely.

He's basically like a slower version of Bruce Irvin who lines up at DT instead of LB. I would be shocked if he had success in an Aaron Donald type of role in real NFL games, but Marsh does have some unique traits that make the journey a fun one. In the preseason he had as much ability as anyone for making guards and centers look stupid.

I know the staff is high on Marsh, but i honestly don't remember him making a single impact play prior to his injury. From the little I remember, once an O lineman got his hands on him it was game over. I hope he turns out to be something special, but so far I can't say he has been anything other than below average. Benson Mayowa made a better impression in 2013 with his limited chances.

It took Michael Bennett 3-4 years to become the force we now know him to be. I am good with showing patience in the development of Cassius Marsh.

With Benson Mayowa, he was cut last year in favor of a leo veteran that finished (tackled) better. Mayowa benefited from regular season snaps with his new team in Oakland. Although he is still limited as primarily a pass rush specialist, he is further along because of his snaps in Oakland.

Most young linemen need snaps to adjust to the NFL and develop.

Point taken, but Michael Bennett was damn good as a UDFA rookie. Cutting him was one of the biggest Seahawks roster mistakes of all time. It did take him about 3 years to start producing, but that was simply due to a lack of playing time.

Oh absolutely! I am not saying to cut Marsh or anything like that. I'm just saying that if he does develop I will be pleasantly surprised more than anything else. He just hasn't done much so far that makes me have great expectations. Based on what I've seen so far, I expect a serviceable role player rather than a difference maker. I'm often wrong though, so he will likely turn out to be the next Chris Clemons for the Seahawks!

Pretty harsh to call him "overhyped" when he got hurt before he could even have a chance to show what he can do.

From what I watched of him, he is always moving forward with his pass rush. If he learns a couple moves, he could be pretty good. He got away with overpowering opponents in college which will be more difficult in the NFL, but even in preseason he was moving guys backwards. If he's healthy, he should do very well in the rotation this season.

I'm hoping that Marsh added 15-20 pounds of good muscle during his rehab, adding core and upper body strength (since you know foot injury).

Then spends this off-season redeveloping his lower body strength.

He's very slippery and active but he looked liked he lacked NFL power. With quality power throughout his body couple with his length and technique , I think the guy can become a big time player. Perhaps, more JJ Watt lite than Michael Bennett 2.0, Jared Allen 2.0.

Looked at his instagram. He had a post from 7 weeks ago.. Looked like he added more functional strength but not as yoked out like Sweezy got last year during the off-season. So ill withdraw my optimistic development for a JJ lite.

Seahawks will probably keep him in the 265-275 range rather then ask him to play 280-290.

I thought he was overhyped in the draft, before Seattle drafted him.

He showed some neat things in the preseason. But right now, I'd put him in the same category as Greg Scruggs or Jaye Howard. He makes a lot of splash plays, but also a lot of bad ones.

Despite my tone, I actually like him now that he's a Seahawk. I just think he's an interesting player that has a long ways to go.

I'm still dubious on Marsh's (CM's) exact role in this D. He's not as explosive for the traditional LEO role, and he's certainly not big/stout/long enough to be a 5-tech in the base D either. My guess (hope) is that they envision him as a LEO in the base D to play the run (and allow Avril to 'rest' on base D snaps).....to which he (CM) might excel......and then be a utilitarian piece in pass rush situations when needed (on the interior, as a 'backup' to Bennett, Hill, et al). We'll see.
