I've been a Seahawk fan since day one but had no clue about this.

The Cowboys got T. Dorsett
And
The 49ers got Joe Montana
From picks that were traded to them by the Seahawks?

Is this true?
Let's talk about it :{)

Ahmad Rashad was a Seahawk, we had his rights and traded him to the Vikings for Carl Eller and Dave Luertzema (spelling) Maybe more, remember Jack Patera was a D line coach there before he was named Seahawks Coach. Bobby Moore aka Ahmad Rashad didn't want to play for an expansion team.

Here is the Dorsett trade:

Cowboys traded 1977 first round pick (#14-Steve August), three 1977 second round picks (#30-Tom Lynch) (#41-Terry Beeson) (#54-Glenn Carano) to Seahawks for 1977 first round pick (#2-Tony Dorsett) on 1977-05-03

Didn't we get WR duke Fergerson in that deal too ? Or was that another?

I remember this trade, Seahawks moved up to the top of the 3rd round and selected a local kid, Michael Jackson from UW. They also got Bob Jury out of the deal. SF got Montana and the very end of the 3rd round.

I remember watching Michael Jackson play when he was at Pasco High School. Man among boys.

Do you recall when we drafted Mark bell ? 1979 I think. He and his twin brother
Mike were defensive linemen at Colorado State. We got Mark and the Kansas
City Chiefs got Mike.

Mike had the longer career but Mark saw his son Blake drafted as a tight end
in the draft just concluded.

John Elway said he thought he was going to end up a Seahawks, which he wanted since his wife was from Tacoma and his family is from Wa. Instead we drafted Curt Warner, over Eric Dickerson, and never called the Broncos or Elways agent back.

You mean the Colts, who had the pick and selected John leading to the trade after the draft.

Sorry, that's what I meant. They just had his story on before the draft.

Pretty sure this is not the first time that exact phrase has been muttered.

Sorry, couldn't help myself.

This sounds interesting - had to look it up, not counting other picks involved in trades basically it shook out as:

John Elway went #1 (Colts) -> Traded to Broncos for Chris Hinton
Eric Dickerson went #2 (Oilers) -> Traded to Rams for Curt Warner who was then traded to Seahawks for Bruce Matthews
Curt Warner went #3 (Rams) -> Traded to Oilers for Eric Dickerson
Chris Hinton went #4 (Broncos) -> Traded to Colts for John Elway
#5
#6
#7
#8
Bruce Matthews went #9 (Seahawks) -> Traded to Oilers for Curt Warner

I guess that's the official word, dont' really remember the John Elway -> Seahawks thing. Very interesting..

I watched this draft live...... The Colts did draft Elway, but The Rams and Seahawks both traded up with the Rams taking Dickerson and the Seahawks taking Warner. Seattle never did "pass" on Dickerson, he was already gone when Seattle picked.
