Some funny stuff here...some Seahawk history I never knew about, all thanks to VivaEfrenHerrera here.
I saw his username and started googling, and found this gem.

Found another one here...walking off like a boss, after sealing the kick.

I used to LOVE those trick plays as a kid. The Hawks of old didn't beat you up they out tricked you. They did not win much but they were fun to watch.

Thanks, great video. That first play was a Monday night game in Atlanta.
The Seahawks won that game. In fact, even though they were not world
beaters, for a stretch of several years they had the best Monday night
record in the league. Jim Zorn was arguably the best placement holder
in the NFL at that time. A threat as both a runner and a passer.

In the years running up to the first really good Seahawk team in 1983,
they used to give Oakland more trouble than anybody. Oakland was
the bully of the AFC at that time so a win over the Raiders was always
one of the best of the year.

My brother was a Raiders fan growing up so I loved the fact that we gave the Raiders so much trouble. There was a time back then when only one team in the league had a historical winning record over the Raiders. Yup the Hawks.

Love those plays.. there probably is no more exciting play in football than a fake, and when you can get the place kicker involved , even better.. How often , even when expecting a fake, does a defense account for the KICKER?

Thanks for sharing!

That does bring back memories of when I was a kid - the family gathered around the TV, waiting to see what Patera would come up with next. Anyone else remember the team being called "The Cinderella Seahawks"?

I miss those days. I'm not sure if it was because football was more magical, or if it was because I was just a kid then.

it was that game (Atlanta MNF) and that play in particular that hooked me forever as a Seahawk fan. Our 1st MNF and we win in OT, 31-28.
I went to the next home game, LA Rams at The Kingdome. It was by far the worst game of our history and one of the worst performances of Pro Football in the modern era. -7 yards total for the game.
Those 2 games set me up as a Seahawk fan. Some big ups and some big downs.

Great find thanks for putting those links up. Those great plays still give me the chills.
Nothing like watching your chubby kicker catch a pass for a first down on a fake FG on MNF, and the other play where he was the lead blocker for Zorn was awesome as well.

The trick plays always made the games fun, even with all the losses, it was more often than not fun times watching Zorn to Herrera :)

I think in fact every time we wanted the trick play and were sad when it didn't happen.

p.s. LOVE the walking off like a boss clip!

p.p.s. working my way through recommended videos on youtube and this nice little vintage highlight reel came up

p.p.p.s. aw man...what could have been aka Curt Warner

Just like the current St Louis Rams. :thfight7:

I do agree those old Seahawk teams were an entertaining watch.

I forget the exact game, but I remember one game where they sent Herrera out on a pass pattern off the fake FG, as a decoy. Zorn completed the pass to someone esle.
