Thanks for the link. Some great stuff there.

I'm still reading through the comments. It's nice to see some outsider's perspectives that aren't just lame hater's drivel (Sea-Chickens and all that crap).

I think one advantage of coming in and cleaning house is it is pretty much guaranteed young players will get time. Not having a team loaded with 1st rounders making crazy money until the new CBA also handicaps most teams from following the model the Seahawks were able to. Of course the Seahawks had that crazy Curry contract but most of the 1st rounders left when Pete got here were mid-to-late 1st rounders (Jackson, Spencer vs Curry).

Housh was the biggest albatross on the salary cap but other players were cut and re-signed (LockLear/Babs) with reasonable contracts that allowed the Seahawks to do it their way.

So a reasonable avenue to dump contracts and get young players infused helped over time. Didn't look that way in the beginning with two 7-9 seasons but look at them now. It just seems like it was a perfect storm for them.

That and having an owner who is a little hands off and this not being a city where outside pressures could make life a living hell for the owner and coaches. Our local radio jocks and print media were skeptical of Pete but for the most part after they got over their Hass and Flynn butt-hurt they have been very much cheerleaders.

Well until Frank Clark got drafted.
