Holding, or the lack thereof.

I don't have cable or a dvr so I can only speak from what I saw during the live broadcast. Now please don't misconstrue this as a "we lost because the reffs suck and hate us" post. I am just stating that there seemed to be a massive amount of holding that the Pack was getting away with against us last night, even only bringing 4 most the night (did we blitz?) it seemed as though at least one hold was allowed on nearly every snap, and I think our d line was pretty frustrated by the lack of calls. Does anyone have the all 22, or had time to break down film to see if that was the case or if I am just seeing things through hawk goggles?

Nope. I saw it. Every time Rodgers stepped up in the pocket and threw it with no one around him (about 5-10 times last night), it was because the Seahawks d-line player on that side was "glued" to the Packers o-line guy. Now, I'm jut a douchebag fan, but talking clearly from a "what I saw on screen" and "what I would assume a player is supposed to do when a QB steps up and gets behind them" stand point. It seems like there was probably some tugging and holding going on by GB to allow Rodgers to get THAT free to just step out of the pocket and throw it with no one even close to him.

This game the refs were definitely biased to GB. Beyond a doubt. Even gave them a free timeout in the first half.

Don't forget, Russell got away with intentional grounding at a key part of the game.

I'd have to watch the game a 2nd time, but the refs seemed fair to me. Seattle's pass protection looked good which tells me they probably got away with some holds, too ;)

I saw some holds on both sides. The refs did seem to err on the side of the home crowd. The fumble and Britt recovery (or not) and the review on the scoring play that was never called a score, so in my mind shouldn't have been reviewed were the game changer ones. I do like it when the refs only call the blatant fouls. Tictacky calls all game drive me nuts, even when we benefit from them.

Watched a lot of NFL games so far, holding hasn't been called much from what I can see. You want to see an o-line get away with murder holdingwise, watch the cowgirls o-line sometime. Fists full of opponents jerseys on the outside parts of the pads.

There was a blantant hold against Irvin on one of Erin's TD passes that wasn't called as the guy had his arm extended about a foot and a half and a hand full of jersey, unfortunately I expect whistles to be swallowed when you play a "legacy team" at their place, so I can't say I'm surprised.

Hawks still didn't play good enough to win, and a lot of self inflicted mistakes were made.

Calls were going both ways. When Mike Bennett sacked Rogers I thought he got away with a horse collar tackle. That was a critical play for us. We got out played plain and simple they made plays at critical times and we didn't.

I've noticed the refs rarely call holding when it's to protect the QB in the pocket, but they are pretty quick to call it in all other situations. I'm thinking that's probably by design.

Yes, yes, yes.

I was pissed about this early in the game because it allowed Rogers to avoid at least three sacks.

In the third, I saw a blatant hold by our O line that may have saved Wilson's bacon. Saw many other crap calls both ways.

So through the game I settled on incompetence and bad officiating in general.

In the end, a hard game between the two best teams in the NFC, and GB is showing better preparedness and poise at this early point in the season - combine that with playing in Lambeau...

Officiating was crap all around but did not decide this game - better play from GB did.

Rodgers also got away with a grounding, he was outside the pocket but the ball landed 1 yard before the LOS with no receiver in sight.

That's a pretty interesting observation. Gonna keep that in mind and see if I get less annoyed during games. :th2thumbs:

These are the threads I cringe at seeing, just hoping other team's fans don't come here and see what whiny bitches we are.

Hawks win? We're awesome.

Hawks lose? Let's blame the league, the refs, the schedule makers, the time zone, Bevell, the full moon, too much fiber in Earl's diet, Russell being a virgin. Did I forget anything.

Suck it up Nancies, the Packers have one of the best O-lines in the league, and they dominated our four down lineman most of the game.

I saw this, too. The ball has to cross the line of scrimmage or there needs to be a receiver in the area. Neither happened. It doesn't matter if he's outside the pocket. Usually the referee will explain why there was no intentional grounding, but I did not hear anything on that play.

Early on in the game, it seemed as though there were two refs that were pulling for opposite sides.

What upset me most about Rodgers stepping up every damn play was that when Clark was in he was driving his guy into Rodgers, but he was only in for a few snaps then the Seahawks went back to being escorted around Rodgers. I don't understand why the Seahawks don't stick with things that are working when it involves backup players while in-game. I get that they have to earn playing time in practice, but if the guy is getting it done during a game, wouldn't you want that guy in until they stop him? Why do they insist on waiting til halftime to make adjustments?

Sherman and Cary were holding like crazy and not called.

Listen buddy, take this logic and reason elsewhere. This thread is for conspiracy theorists and tin foil hat wearing alarmists only!

Excellent discussion. It's really nice to see a civilized conversation over referees and rules with out people making it in to an excuse.

I don't mind if referees overlook holding penalties because it's an overly adjudicated call and needs to be changed. Nothing can ruin a good offensive groove quicker than a 10 yard holding penalty. I keep begging for them to change the rule to 5 yards! If you're going to change a rule, that's the one to change damnit!

Just listening to Clayton on 710, there have only been 8 one hundred yard games this year! That's ridiculous!

Sgt. Largent, I respectfully refer to the second line in the OP

I made this post to ask the group, to get a collective opinion from a forum of fans who like to talk about the Seahawks. What exactly was the intent of your dirisive comment?
