The truth is Wilson could have just as easily been sacked 10 or 12 times. According to ESPN Stats & Information, he was pressured on 48.6 percent of his dropbacks, the highest number of any quarterback in Week 4.

Wilson has been sacked on 11 percent of his dropbacks, the highest rate in the NFL. That number was 7.7 percent last year.

What's concerning about Monday night's performance is the Lions didn't have to do anything tricky to produce pressure. According to ESPN Stats & Information, five of Detroit's sacks came when it rushed four defenders or fewer. Wilson was actually good against the blitz, going 7-for-7 for 91 yards.

The truth is, the "improve as the season goes along" narrative might be overblown. Through four games last year, Wilson had been pressured on 36.2 percent of his dropbacks. By the time the season ended, that number had actually increased to 40.8 percent.
