It seems that they have been out of sorts and I wonder if Kris being DC has effected them as a whole?

Actually that's really good question... I think not devoting more time to the secondary has impacted their communication.

Probably, which is why it's exasperating to have the offense play uncognizant of the change.

of course it is. Last year we had the best DB coach and the Best Linebacker coach to go with one of the best Dcoordinators

this year we have a subpar D-Coordinator.

Today I observed Kris chewing out the defense on the sidelines today. I wonder if he is saying toxic things that destroy defensive chemistry. Just a guess. But something is responsible.

Something seems amiss....they are giving up pass plays they usually have been able to shut down. Secondary as a whole are not performing to the LOB standard.
