So in 6 games we had 1 TD and 4 FGs in the 4th quarter. That sucks.

Defense is breaking down, sure, but the O is hanging them out to dry, too.

2 of those FGs were against the Bears - again, JV team.

So for 5 other games, we've had 1TD and 2 FGs. Or just 1FG for any game outside the Rams game

Thanks for putting this up. I really do understand why a lot are saying " it's not the offenses fault", " " the D imploded". I get it, really I do. It's also not about the D necessarily being gassed either. It's about giving the opponents offense a ton of opportunities to eventually bust our D. If you throw enough crap up on the wall some is going to stick. Not to mention going against a 4 down offense is ridiculously Hard for a D to stop.

Where did you get those #s?

It would be nice to juxtapose our offensive drives against the opponent drives in the 4th quarter.

I was looking for the #s but could not find them anywhere, thank you for these though.

I know if you take a look at the #s below you can see our offense is much less effective (top # Sea13, then Sea14, followed by Sea15). I don't know where to get the 4th quarter #s for comparison though but the eye test is that we are taking major steps back. For instance we were the 10th ranked pass offense last year, 24th this year.

Tds/RZ Avg.
.561 (14)
.525 (19)
.333 (29)

Pts/RZ
4.98 (7)
4.80 (14)
4.33 (25)

Pts/Dr
2.16 (9)
2.19 (9)
1.59 (23)

TDs/Dr
.229 (12)
.235 (9)
.122 (31)

And we fumbled a TD on offense so really that cancels out the TD we scored...so bad

We lost to teams that are 19-3. Two hate us and we beat in the playoffs last year. Three undefeated. And the Rams.

Just in case you forgot...we were 7 point favorites in this game.

Yeah I hope you didn't take that bet. This is Cam's biggest win of his career. I thought it would be 24-23. I never expected the wide open TD. There were plenty of signs of life for us today. We need to be backed into a corner. The redzone is killing us.

the bengals and packers, yes I'll make an excuse. Even the rams, fine.
The panthers are not a great team and we were at home.
We just had Ted Ginn and co. march down the field on us twice in the 4th quarter

Yep.

Look, nobody is saying the defense is playing great.

But the offense retreating into a shell in the 4th quarter certainly isn't helping things.

There are failures on both sides of the ball. In past years, our lights-out D could overcome the fact our offense was a disaster at times. Now it can't.
