Most of his guaranteed money was paid out this year, if he's cut after the season we're on the hook for about $2.4M

*Big cap hit?

What a mistake that signing was.

Depends on your definition of a big cap hit.

Looks like $2.3M in dead money if we cut him next year? $6.1M cap hit so we net $3.8M in space? Am I reading that right?

You is

Man think of all the defensive lineman we can sign and convert to offensive guards with that money

As I recall, his contract is team friendly, and could be seen as a one year deal. IIRC. A couple mil in dead money next year.

Honestly wish we had signed up Mathis or that raider ex-center, either one would have more impact than this guy. Why the FO was so frantic about finding a CB over some Oline is odd.

Well we had like 1 healthy CB after the super bowl so the frantic-ness made sense

Because 4 members of the secondary were having surgery in the offseason, one was leaving in FA and the other would have had Tommy John surgery if he played baseball.

Hell can we cut him today?

Wonder if the eagles would want to trade maxwell back for williams

Forget Maxwell. I'll take 1 can of Maxwell House coffee for him. Frankly we would be getting the better end of the deal in that one.

Not sure why they don't let Tye Smith play....he couldn't be any worse that Cary has been. Cary was getting abused by backup TEs in McDonald and Celek today. Absolutely ridiculous.

Not funny. Don't give them any ideas.

Definitely a weak link. He may work as a JAG on some other teams but as a LOB member? Please.

Bring Maxwell back. At least he plays better in Seattle.

If the team wouldn't pay Tate, no way they are paying Maxwell fair-market value after signing Sherman to the money they did. Maxwell just was not an option. B Max was a keeper but the team has to spend some of its cap on offense.

Hate the cap but others love it. Seems stupid that you cannot keep the players you invested time and resources developing but it does make the league more competitive and those fortunate enough to reap the benefits aren't weeping.
