I don't know how many of you have seen this already over at Field Gulls, but for those who haven't there are some pretty encouraging stats from PFF in terms of this game ...

Teddy Bridgewater and Russell Wilson are both in the top 3 in terms of pressure experienced ...

Bridgewater ... 48.1%
Wilson ... 44.0%

RT T.J. Clemmons is one of the worst rated tackles in the league. Cliff Avril leads the NFL in 51 pressures from the left side.

Adrian Peterson has 42 missed tackles on the year ... BUT his Yards After Contact and Elusive Rating numbers have gone steadily down since 2012 ...

Adrian Peterson YAC ...
2012 ... 3.93
2013 ... 2.97
2015 ... 2.49

Adrian Peterson Elusive Rating ...
2012 ... 72.0
2013 ... 64.6
2015 ... 40.3

Peterson leads the NFL with 15 runs of 15 yards+
Thomas Rawls has 12 runs of 15 yards+ and has done it with 1/2 the carries (Peterson 237 attempts ... Rawls has done that in just 122 attempts)

The Seahawks have 3 receivers in the top 10 in the NFL in terms of WR rating (including the top 2 spots) ...
#1 -- Tyler Lockett (134.5)
#2 -- Doug Baldwin (130.4)
#8 -- Jermaine Kearse (118.9)

The Vikings #1 Receiver Stefon Diggs ranks #24 (105.4)

Boy, you threw out a couple of stats I've never heard of. Pressure experienced? I suppose that includes batted balls, knock downs, etc., but it seems pretty subjective. And elusive rating? How do they arrive at that one?

I must really be behind the times.

The stat that means the most is the score at the end of 60 minutes. I don't care how they do it...just score more points than the Viks.

Pro Football Focus has some pretty interesting metrics. They're not without their flaws and legitimate criticisms. Stats like the ones they come up with aren't the end all be all of everything when it comes to football ... and can't replace the eyeball test ... but they are interesting to look at. I find that numbers like the ones they use can be instructive in conjunction with what I actually see on the field.

As far as QB Pressures (I called it pressure experienced above) -- that seems to be pretty straightforward. It's merely the percentage of time that a QB experiences pressure when he drops back to pass. Now admittedly that in itself is a bit subjective, but it's an interesting stat to look at regardless.

As far as Elusive Rating is concerned, PFF has a write-up on that one here ...
https://www.profootballfocus.com/about/pff-signature-stats/#ElusiveRating

Bottom line is that despite the appearances, Peterson isn't quite the back he was 3 years ago. Back in 2013, we held him to just 65 yards on the ground and a mere 3.1 yards/carry average. Would be beautiful to have a repeat performance of that because if the Hawks can do that again ... I don't see us losing this game.

Thanks. Glad to see that someone appreciates numbers. Around here, it seems like if you really want to draw interest, you start another "Does the national media still disrespect us?" ... OR the 3,000th beat to death version of "Is Russell Wilson too short, distracted by Ciara, etc.?" thread. I prefer to talk about the actual game.

I think the numbers that are especially telling are the ones concerning Adrian Peterson. I also think it's interesting when you start to really get in to his numbers and you consider the teams he's really racked up his numbers against this year ...

9/20 -- vs. Detroit ... 29 carries ... 134 yards ... 4.6 yards/carry
Football Outsiders has Detroit ranked as its #14 Rush Defense (5.6%) ... BUT
Detroit is also #23 in yards allowed (1304) ... and has allowed 16 TD (most in the NFL)

9/27 -- vs. Chargers ... 20 carries ... 126 yards ... 6.3 yards/carry ... 2 TD
Football Outsiders has San Diego ranked as the #32 Rush Defense (16.3%) ...
San Diego is #27 in yards allowed (1361) ... and allows a whopping 4.9 yards/carry (Dead last in the NFL)

11/1 -- at Bears ... 20 carries ... 103 yards ... 5.2 yards/carry
Football Outsiders has Chicago ranked as its #31 Rush Defense (6.8%) ...
Chicago is #29 in yards allowed (1414) ... and allows 4.8 yards/carry (30th in the NFL)

11/8 -- vs. Rams ... 29 carries ... 125 yards ... 4.3 yards/carry ... 1 TD
Football Outsiders has St. Louis ranked as its #5 Rush Defense (-11.9%) ... BUT
St. Louis is also #21 in rushing yards allowed (1221)

11/15 -- at Raiders ... 26 carries ... 203 yards ... 7.8 yards/carry ... 1 TD
Football Outsiders has Oakland ranked as its #22 Rush Defense (5.1%) ...
Oakland is #18 in yards allowed (1191) ... and 4.4 yards/carry (26th in the NFL)

11/29 -- at Falcons ... 29 carries ... 158 yards ... 5.4 yards/carry ... 2 TD
Football Outsiders has Atlanta ranked as its #19 Rush Defense (-0.4%) ...
Atlanta is #10 in yards allowed (1065) ... but has allowed 13 Rushing TD's (2nd Most in the NFL)

Just some food for thought.
