Kind of funny to see our offense ranked 1st in weighted DVOA as well. After the start we had?!

Aaron Shatz on football outsiders talks about this. The key word in all of that is START. Specifically Seattle's worst games in terms of DVOA happened hear the start of the season and matter very little in the weighted average now.

I expected a jump in DVOA, but all the way to #2? And #1 in weighted DVOA? Impressive!
It speaks to Seattle's SOS compared to Carolina's SOS and relatively small margin of victory who sit at 6/4 respectively.

Considering our losses came via the #1, #3, #6, #9 and #22 teams - they don't count so badly against us and Shatz talks about how mediocre this year is in the NFL.

Moreover, DVOA is a statistic that is created on a per play basis. Though there is some variation, generally is you have more good plays than bad - then you don't really come out too bad on DVOA. For example, we pummeled Cincy for 3 quarters which would have more weight than the one quarter we blew.

Considering we dominated 4 of those teams for substantial parts of the game it isn't surprising that they don't count so badly against us.

Overall, we have had a pretty tough schedule and played some good football throughout.
