The Seahawks and Panthers have faced one another ten times in their history with the Seahawks leading the series, 7-3.

The first matchup was in 2000 with the Panthers prevailing, 26-3. Brock Huard started at QB for the Seahawks and had an unassuming, if ineffective, game.

Pete Carroll is 5-1 against Carolina as the Seahawks Head Coach. His only blemish being the most recent matchup, when a blown coverage assignment on TE Greg Olsen led to a TD with 32 seconds left in the game and a 27-23 Panthers victory.

Against Ron Rivera, Carroll is 4-1 and four of those five games have been decided by five points or less. The only blowout was the Seahawks' playoff victory over Carolina last year, 31-17. In that game, the Seahawks won the turnover battle, 3-0, and Russell Wilson lit up the Panthers defense with three TD passes.

Overall, the Seahawks are 2-0 against Carolina in the playoffs. In addition to last year's game, the Seahawks beat them in the 2005-06 NFC Championship Game en route to their first Super Bowl.
