IDK if you guys all saw the article but it was pretty interesting, speficially the part about pocket passing

http://espn.go.com/blog/seattle-seahawk ... ric-season

A section from the article below

" 118.6 -- Wilson's passer rating on throws from inside the pocket. Not only was that the top mark among this year's group, but no quarterback in the past three seasons has posted a higher number. Wilson completed 72.8 percent of his passes, averaged 8.75 yards per attempt and tossed 31 touchdowns against seven interceptions when he stayed in the pocket. Since Week 11, the numbers are 77.8 percent, 9.90 YPA, 22 touchdowns and one interception. That equates to a passer rating of 145.1. Regardless of what happens in the playoffs, this will be one of the most important things to come out of the 2015 season for the Seahawks. When Wilson has time to sit back in the pocket, he can pick defenses apart. He's shown that ability in the past, but never at such a high level, and it's made the Seahawks extremely tough to defend. If opponents want to try to stay disciplined with their pass rushes and not allow Wilson to scramble, he's perfectly content to hang tight, survey the field and deliver on-target all game long. "

I like the narrative of Wilson being a bad pocket passer his whole career even though whenever I see stats from his pocket passing they are always really, really good..The top QB rating inside the pocket the last 3 years is....AMAZING for a quarterback who is not "a pocket passer"

.There was an article in 2013 comparing him to kaepernick and Wilson had a 100+ QB rating inside the pocket then too.

Anyone have a link or numbers for his WHOLE CAREER inside the pocket instead of just 1-2 seasons.

But all you have to do is keep Russ in the pocket.

It's his Kryptonite remember!!!!!!!!! Contain him and he folds.

Hope that's the Panther's game plan. Especially with their re-tread corners. (Not counting Norman of course).

Watching ESPN they mentioned how effective Carolinas blitz was the first time around. But isn't RW really good against the blitz typically?

He was not against Carolina the first time. But that was before the offense was changed. Let's hope he's as good as we saw against it the 2nd half of the season if they blitz like they did the first game.

Depends on how long he holds the ball....

He gets it out fast, his rating is good.

He has to hold onto it, not as good.

Do you remember how long it took for him to get a completion in this last Super Bowl? Belichick got that done via scheme not amazing defensive talent like the Rams.

Kap against the Giants this year had a drastic difference in QB rating when the ball came out fast/pre-determined or he held onto it.

Wilson is very similar in that regard.

Alex Smith has a lot of great stats, but the eye test always seems to undermine whatever those stats may be (and justifiably so in a good # of cases).

Keeping Wilson in the pocket is the best play for any defense.

Not a guarantee of shutting him down, but allowing Wilson out of the pocket is usually a recipe for problems for a defense.

Some of what you say it legit some not. Holding onto the ball is not what takes his rating up or down, and his complt% is still very good. All that holding onto it to long does really is reduce the number of attempts he will get as if he holds onto it to long that means if he cannot find anyone he will run or get sacked neither of which changes his rating. Keeping any mobile/athletic QB in the pocket is preferred because you know were they are at.
