I'm not sure how to find it but I'm curious if anyone knows the last couple years when we had the #1 seed. What teams played the 10am starts?

Also what seed was SanFran in 13 when they traveled to GB and then Carolina. Were either of those games 10am starts?

Just curious. If you know the answere or how to look it up I would appreciate the help.

So it seems that most years one west coast team plays a 10am game. And while I feel that it was a bit unfair for the Hawks toplay 2 of them in the same year, it appears that they are the only ones to have any problems winning those games.

There is a big difference playing regular season 10 am games and playing playoff 10 am games.

1 The quality of play during the playoff is much higher
2 The intensity that you find in the playoff is not as much during the regular season.

Seahawks are not the only ones to have issues winning those games, as someone else pointed out, that perhaps the greatest teams of the NFL,, Joe Montana's 49ers , never won a playoff 10:00 am game.

What part of "Home Field Advantage" are people not getting?

It's not just weather and fans; it's also the time difference. If we don't like 10am games, the solution is to control HFA. When we're a wild card, we don't have that luxury and lose all right to complain about it.

East coast dont have to worry about that even if they are Wild Card, so NO! Westcoast teams should never have a disadvantage just because of their location. 10am in playoff games should never happen.

Since 2001
Seahawks are 1-5 in 10am playoff games. The only game they won was a gift from the football gods against the Vikings this year.

49ers 1-2

Chargers - Did not have any 10am or earlier games. I had to go back 20 years & they won that game against the Stealers in 95.

Raiders - Did not have any 10am games so I went back 20+ years too & they were 0-3.

I find it funny that the Seahawks has the majority of 10am games on the Westcoast.

Someone mention in another thread that Joe Montana never won a 10am playoff game as a 49er. I looked it up & sure enough he is 0-3. One his worse defeat was in 86 against the Giants 3-49. Montana career playoff record 19-5.

In 25 years the playoff record for 10am westocast teams are 3-13. .188% win percentage

That's the Browns record for this year.

This.

It wasn't a problem for the 2013 Hawks, why is it now?

Same deal with penalties.

Bottomline your team is either good enough to deal with a reasonable level of (non-QB) injuries, penalties, road games and/or 10 AM games to win or they aren't. This year seems to be the year of the Panthers, good for them. I do look forward to next year for the Hawks though as the offense seems to be turning the corner.

Well then, maybe when we get "Home Field Advantage" again (and we will) we should have the advantage of Making our East Coast opponents to play while wearing an eye patch.
You'd think that be powers that be in the NFL would be completely neutral and show no bias, neither team should have any obvious circumstantial advantages.
It should be all about who comes out the TRUE victor when NEITHER team is given any kind of extra advantages, and BOTH presenting their best.
Anything else is chicken dung.

So, you agree that the #6 seed should have to deal with any and all EXTRA disadvantages? LOLOL okay.

I'll say it for the 8000th time, this is a separate discussion. The PROVEN point here is about body clocks and an even playing field OUTSIDE of who's playing at home in their own stadium, sleeping in their own beds, etc. That's what HFA should be about, not a PROVEN body clock disadvantage. IF the NFL was truly about, parity as they state they are, there would NEVER be a 10:00 Pacific/1:00 PM Eastern start for San Fran, Seattle, LA, Oakland, San Diego, Denver or AZ.

THIS is all the argument you need to refute the "well if you're the #1 seed you don't have to worry about it" point of view. It IS slanted in favor of eastern and central time zone teams, pure and simple.

But when thinking about the rationale behind the 10 AM starts, it's not really "Well, we really want to hose those West Coast teams", rather, it's a byproduct of trying to accrue as much revenue as possible and it just so happens that the majority of teams and fans live out that way. It's a crappy outcome that we pay the price for populations and geography.

So you're saying revenues based on TV ratings would be lower if JUST the games involving Pacific and Mountain teams playing in Eastern and Central started at 4:00 Eastern? Cuz if so, I ain't buying. Ratings for the NFL are high no matter when games are played. As far as fans attending the games, they go to games in the Eastern time zone that start at 8:30 PM so how would a 4:00 game be impactful? Yeah dude, I do STRONGLY believe Eastern teams keep it this way as a competitive advantage. There is NO logical reason outside of that.

This statement is not true.

The lower seeds have built in disadvantages, Travel, playing in a hostile environment, strange bed those all are the same exact disadvantages a New York or California lower seed has.

The major difference is the New York lower seed will never have the ADDITIONAL disadvantage of having to play at 10am body time. That specific disadvantage is saved solely for the West coast or in this scenario the California lower seed.

No not purposely hosing the west coast team. But it could easily be fixed. Seattle was the only road West coast team both weekends. No reason they couldn't of played in the 1 pm or 5 pm Sat window or the 1 pm sun window.

Using the home field advantage advantage argument is silly. We have to work harder than the east coast teams to get the #1 seed because of the regular season 10 am game disadvantage. It's like having to run uphill to not have to run uphill a second time. All the while the east coast teams never have to worry about any of that.
