Was not expecting this. Seems like the players who go out of their way to say they "want to be back", "will take less to stay", etc. almost always leave.

Kearse made it very clear he was planning on leaving and look what happened. He knew how to use reverse psychology to stay a Seahawk.

I'm kind of "meh" on this one.

On one hand, he's had some of the most clutch catches in franchise history. Also, with the game on the line, I'm really good with Wilson chucking it up to Kearse on a 50/50 ball. That said:

I was looking for more consistency in that spot. I was also looking forward to seeing Kevin Smith and Kasen Williams step up, and see what they could do with more playing time. They look great in preseason, time to see what regular season looks like.

I like the veteran presence of Kearse coming back, but I really hope they didn't over pay. With Lockett coming on, and likely to be even better next year, Kearse really is our WR3 and possession guy now.

A lot of WR's were picked up in Free Agency right away who weren't all that great.

This may be a case where he really wasn't really valued elsewhere, but the FO was more than happy to keep him.

Edit: I am not his biggest fan to say the least, but having a durable vet who has been with RW so long is better than ~insert unknown here.~ For those wanting to see Smith, Williams et al....they will get their shot and unseat him if they are better.

Man I'm not too happy with this. Was hoping to move on and draft another WR.

I haven't given up on Paul Richardson and Lockett IMO deserves the 2nd spot.

What this does is allows the Seahawks to not draft a WR in rounds 1-3 and focus on o and d line

Can be Meh all day on this but at least we held and paid less than we would have. Solid move with his ability to run scramble drill with Russ. I like.

Will wait for the terms before getting too excited, but this really solidifies an area that would have been potentially thin and allows us to pass on a weak draft class at WR. We've now got a solid starting three with good potential on the back end.

I am not happy at all. Smh... Why God why... There's soo so many good draft prospects.

Literally every penny of his salary should be towards Baldwin's or Bennett.

Meh. Russell likes throwing to him so I guess that's all that matters.

I had a strong suspicion this would happen, just like 2014. Tate said he would consider a hometown discount and then signed elsewhere. Michael Bennett said this isn't Costco, there are no hometown discounts, and then ended up re-signing on a modest deal. We had similar statements from Kearse and Irvin this year. And Irvin, the one who suggested the possibility of a discount, is the one that left, while Kearse re-signed. I can't imagine we paid a lot for Kearse.

Really interested to see the numbers in the deal.
