Anyone else have a suspicion that BB is going to get some snaps as strong safety? I have some questions as to whether the enforcer is going to hold up the entire year, and this could give us some insurance. At this stage of his career, I don't see BB as a starting cornerback for us, but a corner/safety hybrid might be something that Pete has in mind. What do y'all think?

I think he comes in and competes at CB. If he gets beat out by 2 or 3 of the younger guys, he might be able to switch.

in theory I agree that Chancellor won't hold up, and we need a good back up. I also agree that in theory, Browner would make a hell of a SS, thus prolonging his career. The problem there is that McCray showed some promise last year. You don't want to stunt a younger player's growth as he might be the answer in a year to SS, and that could end up being a 2-4 year solution while you mine the draft for someone closer to Kam's physical attributes.

I think he'll become a TE coverage CB/DB hybrid.

I need to go back and watch the tape, but i don't recall him being particularly effective against TE while he was here.

I get the reasoning, but i'm not sure there will be enough room on the final 53 for a specialist like that.

I think they like Kelcie McCray as the backup SS. Browner is listed as a CB on the roster, while SS/FS/CB/NB-hybrid Deshawn Shead is listed generally as a DB. I think there is an opportunity for Browner at RCB, where he has so much experience. I thought Lane looked really natural at that spot, but there are still some people who view him as more of a nickel. And then there are the issues of injuries for both Lane and Simon throughout their careers. Smith is yet untested. And who knows what we have with Seisay, Farmer, Jean-Baptiste, etc. So perhaps Browner would provide depth and veteran leadership at outside corner, i.e. kindling for the development of burgeoning young studs.

My guess - if Simon makes iit through training camp injury free, Browner doesn't make the team. If Simon gets hurt, door is open for Browner.

Pete did say, today I believe, that they have some different ideas on how to use Browner. "Interesting" was one adjective.

Just a wild hunch, but I'm thinking he's going to play cornerback.

Exactly. By intereating I think all Pete means is that our CB usage will be highly situational. Having Browner to compliment Lane gives us a lot of match up flexibility.

I see him more as a Linebacker, like someone else mentioned Kelcie McCray looked good last year in a back up roll.

I think he is Guido, he is going to come in and just mess people, take people out of their game before going to the sidelines, also the match up for big receiver and pass catching TE's.

Unless he's professionally wet the bed, he'll be on the roster.
Just a feeling.
Same here; I think Pete will make room for Browners' mean streak.

He gets two personal fouls before he fouls out.

Maybe he's our designated head hunter.

In the NFL it's a game of innovations and everyone adjusting to catch up. I can see teams adjusting to the dynamic TE's and taller WR by covering them with the Brandon Browner types or drafting the Tanner MacEvoy types. I would love to see us pick MacEvoy to cover the Big mismatches and eventually take over at SS. He has elite length and agility and he is considered one of the more intelligent prospects. Get him.
