As I understand it, he was fortunate to have survived that hit. Sound decision by Ricardo Lockette.

Wish him all the best.

He was very close to being internally decapitated.

I hate that he's not going to make it back.

I don't think many of us ever thought he'd play again. It just didn't make sense to.

He's having a press conference?
He must have been better than I thought.

Nothing but love for Ricardo. He was a fantastic special teams player, and seemed to be loved by his teammates.

He gave it all for the Hawks.

Wishing you nothing but the best in the future Ricardo.

I liked watching him play, he was fun to watch, especially on special teams, but I'm glad he made the right call.

He loves football and almost died doing it. He'll never play again. It's the least they could do.

I'm sure that he, and certainly we, hate to see it end this way.

Strangely, more than anything on the field, I remember the lost wallet story about
he and Marshaun finding the owner. Gotta be a good dude.

Thank goodness that he's actually retiring. At one point he was talking about trying to come back and the consequences of that could be hard to watch. He's one of the better athletes in or out of football anywhere. A real thoroughbred. It was absolutely awesome to have him as a Hawk, but I'm glad he's retiring for his own sake.

I knew from the moment I saw him lying motionless on the field that he was finished. He'd make as much effort to return as possible, but it would only delay the inevitable.

Shame, too, he brought a lot of spark to our special teams. He'll be tough to replace in that aspect.

Godspeed Ricardo!

Thank you for your work Ricardo.

Don't take this the wrong way .net, but he will forever be shown on nfl highlights for the end of 49.

But his work as a gunner was awesome. Love watching him sprint down the field on Beastquake part II

Sad to see him go but glad he is making this decision.

My favorite highlight of his was him making three awesome blocks on Marshawn's run against the Cardinals. Made a block at the line, another two guys on the sideline, and then caught up with Marshawn when he crossed the goalline.

I thought it was a done deal that he was retiring, but I'm glad it's official.

As much as it hurts to walk away from the NFL, the fact he can walk is a reason to celebrate.

You play with fire long enough you're gonna get burned.

I hope he has something to fall back on.

Lockette grew on me a lot. I thought he was a waste of a roster spot in the beginning, and then he turned into one of the NFL's best gunners right before our eyes. He genuinely seemed to love being a Seahawk too. I'll miss seeing him out there on Special Teams.

Good dude, glad he is making a smart decision. He had some definate highlights, as well as some lows. Who can forget the flop. Funny, as well as cringe worthy.
