Lambert looked good last preseason.

Also, the release of Ferris likely means they are all-in with undrafted rookie long snapper Nolan Frese.

I don't recall Lambert ever actually playing in a preseason game.

Lambert played in the first preseason game and had a few nice plays: a well-timed pass defended, a tackle, and some generally good coverage. For whatever it is worth, I believe PFF awarded Lambert with the highest defensive grade in that preseason game. But to my eyes at least, he showed some potential. I think they would have liked to sneak him on the practice squad last year. Unfortunately, Oakland snapped him up.
