I'm assuming no Rawls or Graham tomorrow...

Disappointed that Smith, Williams, and Foxx won't play. That opens the door for McNeil, Lawler, Nwachukwu, etc.

Gilliam back at RT and Sowell at LT is probably our best combo, regardless of whether Webb is healthy. Sowell has looked like our best pass protector in training camp.

Hill and Siliga's injuries open the door for rookies Reed, Jefferson, Bryant, etc. Hill and Siliga have been snakebitten too often.

I honestly do not believe we will see either for the start of the regular season. Just a gut feeling, hope I'm wrong.

A humble reminder with two rookie quarterbacks auditioning this Saturday ........ “the hardest thing for me right now is calling (pass) protections --- Boykin.

Tomorrow's game is all about player auditions and the exploration of player combinations.

So as Ivar might have said ..... be clam ...., and prepare to keep the purpose of the first preseason contest in perspective.

With Webb out, it will be interesting to see if we start with the Gilliam-Glowinski-Britt-Evans-Ifedi line Or perhaps Gilliam-Glowinski-Britt-Ifedi-Sowell.

I don't see us kicking Giliam over to the right side. He needs as much time at left tackle as possible.

What is up with Kam?

Recovering from groin injury.
• In addition to tight end Jimmy Graham (knee) and running back Thomas Rawls (ankle) – who just returned to practice this week – Carroll said several other players won’t play Saturday: strong safety Kam Chancellor (groin); defensive tackles Jordan Hill (groin) and Sealver Siliga (calf); wide receivers Kasen Williams, Kevin Smith and Deshon Foxx (hamstrings); and running backs C.J. Prosise and Zac Brooks (hamstrings).

I really only want Russ to play 2-3 series tops.

But the "starting" O-line should play the first half in some combination. Would like to get an extended look at:
Sowell Glow Britt Ifedi Gilliam
Gilliam Glow Britt Ifedi Sowell
Gilliam Glow Britt Ifedi Odiambo
Gilliam Glow Britt Evans Ifedi

Also interested in seeing the above with Hunt at C and Evans at LG. Maybe 1 series each.

I've never been this excited to watch O-line play before.

That long? Really? He doesn't need the work. ;)

IIRC last year in the first pre season game, Wilson fumbled the first drive and then played one more drive. I'd say he plays no more than 2 drives this game as well

For the first time since he was signed, I would be perfectly happy to not see Russ play a single down in this game.

I don't want to be a downer but once the real games start Sowell will reveal himself as absolute trash. Hope I'm wrong!

I really don't understand moving Gilliam to RT for this game unless they really think that's where he is going to play going forward. Get as much work on the left side as possible. Even if he is the first backup for RT, this is preseason. Just plug as needed. Don't be shuffling.
