Why do so few Seahawk receivers wear #s in the 80?

Lockett, Richardson, Kearse, Harvin (when he was here), and Lawler all where numbers in the teens. What's up with that?

Ha, he looks funny in that picture. Don't know if it is the expression on his face of the #15.

So of all the 10-19 and 81-89 jersey's available the 80's are dominated by TE's (since they can only be in 80's and 40's).

With #12 and #80 retired, there are only 18 jerseys available; of the 80's jersey, only #83 and #84 are available. Of the 10's jerseys, only #13 & #14 are available.

Active Roster:
#10 Paul Richardson WR
#15 Jermaine Kearse WR
#16 Tyler Lockett WR
#19 Tanner McEvoy WR
#81 Nick Vannett TE
#82 Luke Willson TE
#86 Brandon Williams TE
#88 Jimmy Graham TE
#89 Doug Baldwin WR

IR/PS
#11 Kenny Lawler WR
#17 Rodney Smith WR
#18 Kasen Williams WR
#42 Bradnon Cottom TE
#85 Marcus Lucas WR
#87 Ronnie Shields TE

The reason they are not wearing 80's so much is so Seattle does not end up retiring all the 80's when their careers are over.

Because our TEs aren't wearing numbers in the 40s anymore? So they take more of the 80s range?

And if you look around the league, you'll see a similar trend. The Cards, Chiefs, Falcons, Panthers, and Texans don't have any receivers who wear 80s numbers.

Less than half the league's teams have 2+ WRs who wear numbers in the 80s.

The only teams with 3: NYJ, CLE, TEN, NYG, TB

The only team with 4: GB
