I haven't seen it discussed much but the Hawks are young. Fifteen rookies on the active roster and Quinton Jefferson makes it 16. Kudos for the talent haul by JS and the gang. My main point is IMO the Hawks are struggling with youth besides the injuries. Two of the most important rookies right now are on the OL.

The running game is back and not a moment too soon. If you take the two biggest runs out of the equation last night (Lockett's 75 yarder and Rawl's 45 yarder) the team still averaged 4.4 yards per carry. Going to need that going forward, especially in Green Bay.

Here is a better perspective on Seattle's roster youth

2012: 7th
2013: 4th
2014: 7th
2015: 12th
2016: 7th
Doesn't say much except we like to stay relatively young with core guys.

By the way, Rams have been number 1 five years running.

Rams overall experience makes them youthful. They have 11 rookies this year and none starting on their OL.

I've never seen the Hawks have this many rookies on their roster. Rams show that being young isn't necessarily a good thing. The Hawks aren't really young with their core guys. I like that Pete isn't afraid to play rookies but even he has admitted he wishes he'd play some of them more. He regrets not playing Clark more last year. It also looks as though he has limited the snaps of Reed this year, perhaps to help with the "rookie wall thing". I wasn't bragging the Hawks have one of the youngest rosters, I was stating one of the reasons they may have struggled this year is the influx of so many rookies in one season. There was only one healthy rookie scratch this week. The upside of course is their upside and as Pete often says this team is getting better every week.

...And yet the Rams have been able to maintain their mediocrity through out.......very impressive. :2thumbs:

Is it just me or is there no context here? What are we 7th in?

Youngest roster based on average age.

Number of rookies is a lot more interesting than average age to me.

This is sort of a mixed bag for us. We should be expecting quite a bit of improvement as the rookies get experience but on the other hand this is the part of the season where many hit the rookie wall.

Would be interested to see how we rated by number of snaps played by rookies.

Seattle probably doesn't lead there. But we do exceptionally well in sprinkling experience on our rookies so that by years two and three, they are ready to contribute.

When you're always drafting at the end of the round, that's really key in maintaining a consistent level of competitiveness.

The kids are playing, at least on STs. Boykin is the one rook who hasn't seen any significant snaps.

Ifedi, Fant and Reed are all basically starters. Vannett is starting to get more play.

Injuries have really cut into our rookie play, though. Undoubtedly Procise and Jefferson would've been significant in rotation.
