Summary of his comments FWIW

OL

Cable is the best OL coach in the NFL
They went too young in 2016. Regrets cutting Evans
Look to add an experienced OL to the group via FA

DB

Shead likely out to begin 2017
CB prioritized as a draft need
They love Sherman
Kam in line for extension as he is part of the core
ET on track in rehab

WR

Lockett on track in rehab
Lockett and Richardson finishing strong was great

TE

Graham here for 2017 for sure. Dismissed any thoughts to the contrary

Draft

Deep defensive draft

I get the whole united front thing, but the Cable thing is a bit much.

Hawks better not be thinking Cable as the new HC when PC moves on.

Oof!

No news flashes but the group of free agent OL is dismal.

Okung?,. Clady?...... Whatever.

In fairness, JS didn't narrow a FA add for LT only. There are some younger guards and tackles on the market aside from those two. Perhaps they add a RT and have Gilliam compete with Fant. They could add a G and have Ifedi move to RT.

Pretty much what you'd expect him to say. He's due to pop another big draft.

Of course Cable is the best OL coach on the planet. What else can John say when he and Pete have their hand in the "$$ saving debacle".

If they are an upgrade over what we have or can get in the draft and the price is right it would make sense.

You could get it off the 710 website just as easy as the OP could. Just saying.

Not if he himself is the missing link.

And who is to say that they are better. We've seen Okung for years (MEH city). Clady was Denver's starting LT, blew his knee up the year we won the SB. Hasn't been the same and went to the Jets, so over the hill.

The only guy worth considering if they are looking at LT is the ancient Whitworth.

Maybe they do what is mentioned above, or just maybe Fant improves dramatically after being thrown into the fire with ZERO experience?...Nobody currently on the team could beat him out and that includes Gilliam who was supposed to start but got beat out by Sowell...OMG. Suckitude.

Nobody has any idea how hard it is to be an OL coach

It is really really really hard and complicated very very very complicated to be an OL coach

Nobody knows more about being an OL coach than Cable

We really think Cable is fantastic as an OL coach and this will be a fantastic OL this year

People are saying that it will be a great OL

There's nothing surprising here but it's worth watching the interview if you're a fan.

I liked Schneider talking about cohesion at offensive line because I think that's been a consistent issue for us. There's a difficult balance to be struck between turning over personnel seeking individual improvement and giving players time to build a rapport with the guys next to them. Regardless of who we pick up I'd love to see our starting five in preseason game 1 continue to start together throughout the season this year.

The best thing the Hawks could do right now for continuity is keep the interior intact and shore up BOTH tackle positions.

Easier said than done however.
